Do you let guests use your home computer?

Do you let guests use your home computer?

The question in the subject line is inspired by a Ms. Manners column where someone wrote in concerned about guests that come to their home and instantly want to use their computer when they see it.

I'm curious what everyone's stance is on letting guests use their home computer(s)?

I'll add my thoughts later.

Yes and No

1) they have to be able to spell and read
2) so 1 leaves out most kids
3) they have to at least know what the taskbar, the start menu, and other basic stuff are.
4) No sites like porn, music downloads,NO game site, 5)they can go to their E-mail to send ONLY.

mostly they get on just to play games that are install on my PC NO Kids under 10.. 11 and up IFFY

my Ex-brother-in-law calls me all the time to come over to fix his Computer because he lets all of his kids/Grand Kids
(Youngest 9 oldest 26)
(he has 2 boys(ages 25/26)) one with a child
(5 girls(Ages 9/11/18/22/23)) 2 with 3 kids each
(7 Grand Kids)
(4 Boys(Ages ?Mo/4/5/6))
(3 Girls(Ages 5/6/7))
and their B or G Friends/husbands get on and download music and he him self goes to the porn sites and something will come up and not even read it they just click ok..(any site) and he will just delete empty folders at will (tell them to stop but they don't)
so that is why my nieces and nephews and Grate nieces and nephews don't get to play on my PC.. mostly Grate nieces and nephews.. plus 2 from new husdand and that is just from one Sister
off topic other sis has 10 kids yes 10 with 4 g-kids for now and one of my brothers have one kids
so I have
nieces 10
nephews 10
Grate nieces 6
Grate nephews 5
one day I will not put his computer back and let him pay BIG $$$ to fix it then maybe just maybe he will lean not to let every tom, dick and harry mess with it
all I charge is for gas witch is 80 miles round trip. and some times only a few times it took 2 days to put back together that is clean install and reinstalling all programs doing updates

then my niece Heather wants me to come down and fix her antique computer witch has a 10BG HD she went out and bought XP 2 years ago and wants me to install it
I told her that her PC can NOT handle XP why did you buy it.. you only got like a 4Ghz I think 16MB of on board ram. with 16? Graphics been awhile. will not drive 100 miles One-way. it was given to her and came with windows 95... that is way it was given to her come on it don't even have USB and no slots to even put memory in..

In my case, since I live at home, its not much of an issue. Mainly because, if someone is staying over, my room is the guest room and as such, my computer is off. Also, until last week, the computer was in a lockable armoire (never locked, wasn't an issue with a bed right in front of it). Also, most of the guests that we have over are family members, generally my grandparents on either said, occaisionally an aunt/uncle. Most are not as computer literate as us or as tied to a computer, and so don't need access.
