Vista: One Year Later

Now this should get the kettle boiling! At the one year point of the initial release of Vista you knew this was going to happen. Before anyones starts in on me, no I don't use Vista, still on XP Home. I haven't even seen Vista on a computer. I find these articles/stories and feel that they would be of interest here in the forums. Actually I get entertainment out of watching folks come unglued when ever the subject of OS's finds its way to the forums. I lead such a lonely life.

The article was found on eWeek Microsoft Watch.

Vista: One Year Later

One year ago today, Microsoft released Windows Vista to manufacturing. In the obligatory anniversary post we ask: Was it ready? Will it ever be ready?

The answer to the first question is an emphatic "no." Vista wasn't ready. Hardware manufacturers and software developers weren't ready for it. The channel and enterprises weren't ready, and consumers couldn't get it because Vista missed holiday 2006.

bilbo1930 my post was only providing a link to an article on eWeek Microsoft Watch which I found. I never have stated my personal feelings about XP or Vista other to say that XP is working for me and providing what I want/need.

Will I ever have a computer with Vista on it, probably, you just never know when bad things will happen to your computer and you have to start looking for a new one. Who knows though, with good care and maintenace my computer may last until the next new OS from Windows.

I have to disagree with you, comparing WB5 to WB6 is not really the same as XP to Vista. Sorry.

You guys all crack me up. I never touched a computer until 6 years ago. I am probably in most count a (clearing throat) mature woman. I have had XP and now have Vista. I love Vista. Stable, more secure and much more user friendly. You big chickens.... Its all what you get used too. I find there is very little I can not use on my computer. Even some things in the beginning I was not sure of, work great. I say , XP, taught me a lot. And Vista has taken me to college...

I've been running Vista as the only O/S on my computer for well over a year, more like 18 months actually and am quite happy with it.

Actually, there are as many good reasons not to use Vista as there are TO use Vista. It's all about personal choice.

In my case, I run several virtual machines on my laptop, so I need a host O/S that doesn't hog all of my resources. Vista does not quite fill the bill. Say what you want good about it, but it is quite assuredly a resource hog!

KiloKrash by keeping informed, reading what I can and knowing what I need to do what it is that I do with a computer, which amounts to what I'm doing right now. As they say it's not rocket science or brain surgery.

RoseNell I guess I have a computer more for entertainment then anything else, not really looking for it to teach me anything which is not to say that I won't learn something from using it.

I knew this was going to bring out good conversation folks, the same reason people are using Vista is the same reason I don't, wait for it, here it comes.................choice. Trust me, it's for no other reason.
