Xion skin problem

It doesnt want to load my skin!

I'm a new to the skining, I decided to go to the easiest one, Xion. I tryed playing with the program Paint.NET, and made a small skin for xion. I've been reading the offical xion tutorial from WC.Wiki, there it says I should save the file as .psd. I did that. But, Xion still doesnt want to read it. Have I done something wrong? (I only made1 layer, which is play. Just wanted to see how it looks/if it works.)
Help pls, I realy want to get my first skin already.

Did you save it into in the Xion interfaces folder? It has to be saved there for the program to read it.

My version of Paint.net doesn't save as *.psd
Does your version?

I used Gimp for my Xion skin.  Not too hard and FREE!

It should still be able to read the .psd file, mine does. Have you tried loading a .psd file from a different skin...just to see if its the Xion or the skin?

Xion needs the bottom layer to be named Layer 1 or it won't display the skin. (That's what I was told anyway).

Need at least 1 layer besides play...The background is usually called 'moveable'

As long as there is a layer named background, you should have no problems. the "moveable" is only if you want it to be moveable. the "layer 1" thing that boxxi says isn't required...i don't use it and they work fine. make sure your play layer is named play_normal at a minimum. you don't NEED to have play_down below that or play_over above it...those are just eye candy if you aren't looking for snazzy.

I don't know if this will help you .. I have just scoured the Paint.Net forums for info ..

~ And here is the .psd plugin for Paint.net : http://frankblumenberg.de/doku/doku.php?id=paintnet:psdplugin

I downloaded it and I CAN save as .psd in the drop down menu ..

I hope that will help ...

Hmmm...I have PSP, I guess I will try save it from there. The only thing was that its abit complicated than PAINT.NET, I'm still starter with those problems. I'll have a try.

I rightclicked Messiah's vienna skinn, and openede it trought .rar, took out the .psd and tryed. It didnt work aswell. It's my xion, or I'm doing something wrong?

From my reply before, I did try saving it from PSP. It didnt work aswell.

Yes, I tryed that aswell, It showed me the xion icon, and then went to Xion -> choose skin -> view all skins -> there there was my skin, with an "Loading". When I clicked on it, noting happend.

Is there a way I can open .psd files? my PSP doesnt seems to be able to read it somehow.

kaazz1337, try this:

Start Xion ... does it have the default skin that comes with it? If so good.

Next drag a Xion skin (psd or xsf file) onto the Xion player and see if it changes to that skin. Try several if the first one doesn't work. The player should change to the skin you drag onto it.

If none work, you might try un-installing and reinstalling Xion.

Ok, pictoratus, I'll try. But still I'm abit confused, do I need to have atleast play layer, or does background layer is enought?

EDIT: Not working, I reinstalled xion, and tryed to open the file via xion, it opened xion with the current skin I used to have. I tryed moving the file to the xion player, it disapeared.

Try dragging some other skins to the player to see if they work.

If your skin is the only one that doesn't work, it has a problem.

As for layers, you need a background layer at the very least. Without a play layer or any other control layers, you must right click on the skin to access any controls.
