I Blew It

Since I had some time to kill I called a cab and went to a local bar for a few cold ones. While there I became engaged in conversation with a rather attractive young lady who happens to smoke. I have been off tobacco for two months as of today. I totally blew my quit. I smoked several of her cigarettes and wound up buying a a pack and smoked most of it.

I make no excuses, I did it because I wanted to do so, but am highly disappointed in myself right now. Two months of being quit went right out the window tonight. Junkie.

I'll be starting all over again come tomorrow morning. It's like I never quit at all, so like any junkie that falls off the wagon I'll have to go through the whole withdrawal thing once again.

Damn I am stupid!

Was it more the ciggies or the "rather attractive young lady"?

Beats me, but as a tobacco junkie it really doesn't matter.

Habits are soooooo hard to get rid of no matter what they are. Instead of beating yourself up about this Mason, maybe you can look at how far you went this time without tobacco and be competitive with yourself by going even further this next time. Of course the goal being to never come back.

I'll send a prayer up for you tonight.

and you're not stupid.....you're human.

Good Luck.

Aw.. shucks...it happens to the best of us. Don't be too hard on yourself M. You plan to get off that ride again, so good luck with sticking to it!

I did the same thing for a decade, alcohol was the reason I broke down every time. I had to give up drinking too; if I drink I’m going to smoke.

Hey Mason, so you blew it... you've done half the work already, you realized you blew it and admitted it. No excuses, no blame games. You realized it, and you vented about it.

So, now the next step is, get on with it.

Happy Getting On With It Day!

Thanks. I think after two months I just got too relaxed about it and let down my guard. Now I am officially relapsed and have to prepare myself to do it all over again from scratch. That sucks, but I can't blame anyone but myself.

I really can't blame the alcohol, the woman, or anything other than myself. I've had plenty of beers with no problem. I just made the decision to smoke, and I did. That junkie inside is tough to put down.

Thanks. That's pretty much the size of it.
