Isotx Selects DirectSkin from Stardock to Add Skinning to CrosuS Software
Plymouth, MI- (August 29, 2007) – Isotx has announced the newest release of their CrosuS game management software, which now includes Stardock's DirectSkin skinning technology. CrosuS is a mod management tool that helps automatically download and install mods and maps for over 30 games, displays reviews and user comments about mods, and links to mod websites and other information. With the newly launched Mod Commonwealth and Hive website, Isotx is focusing on building a community where players and modders can discuss games, chat about news and other developments, and participate in tournaments.
The latest release incorporates Stardock's DirectSkin product to enable skinning of the application and features a custom User Interface created by Stardock Design. By using DirectSkin, the CrosuS development team was able to quickly integrate the new user interface much more easily than trying to build a system from the ground up.
"We knew Stardock from their Galactic Civilizations series on the PC and from WindowBlinds, so it was a perfect fit for us," said Patrick Flanagan, Lead Developer for the CrosuS project. "They knew games and they knew user interfaces. By working with Stardock, we were able to build a distinctive new look for CrosuS very quickly. Picking a well documented standard skin format also leaves the door open for users to further customize the look for CrosuS later down the line."
Isotx is the latest of a number of software companies familiar to gamers that have ed DirectSkin to personalize the user interface. Other companies include AMD, Sony On-Line Entertainment, Ideazon and Tournament.com.
"Adding skinning technology via the use of DirectSkin enables users to for themselves how an application looks on their PC," said Phil Madis, Director of Business Development at Stardock. "This enhances the user experience and creates opportunities to build communities by offering users additional skins. These are benefits that gamers have come to appreciate."
