Photoshop 6 .....problem with color

Anyone that still uses Photoshop 6... My problem is, when I save a pic in any format( jpeg, png, bmp, etc.), there is a difference in what the pic looks like, from the original...in photoshop. Sometimes slight color loss, or the pic is too dark. I have never had this problem in any other graphics program I use. Any ideas would be appreciated!!
Thank you!! tbc

Barb, I use Photoshop 7, and I do see a difference in color with images saved in Photoshop. They look lighter than they really are in photoshop. But when I open the saved image in Paint Shop Pro, it is the color it is supposed to be. I think it has something to do with Adobe's color management. It is just something I have come to live with. I make all my images in Photoshop, and do the post work in Paint Shop Pro. I don't know if this is any help for you or not.

Maybe someone else can chime in....

I've never changed them from default, but maybe it is something in the color settings for PS6? I haven't used PSP since version 5, so I don't remember what color profile it used (if I ever knew and that's iffy), but maybe it is different that PS's color profile.

I use PS 7 now and to be honest I've never noticed a color difference.

Best bet is to always turn Color management OFF in PS before you do anything, if, you are not sure how to use it. If you dont see an option make sure to click "more Options" to see the Turn off setting in "settings" May not be the same for PS6 but as long as you can find the setting, you wont have to "live with it" anymore.
