I don't know if any of you guys are a fan of the mini's genera. Did anyone here ever play games workshops short lived Battlefleet Gothic.

That game was pretty fun.

Some of the stuff I liked from there.

1. Massive torpedoes

Were talking about ship killers that you had to move the ship out of the way from and could use to move other guys ships out of areas that you wanted to go into.

2. Boarding action

You could fire "boarding torpedoes" and basically take over a ship or failing at that sabotage large sections of it.

3. Ramming / Fire Ships

Some ships could ram it was pretty sweet some could also function like a big torpedo.... that was awesome.

4. The ships had sections you could knock out an engine ... that was pretty cool.

5. Ships could really blow up

As in they would implode and take down anyone who happened to be near them that was pretty awesome.

6. Some ships as i recall could use gravitic and solar wind effects

inert told me the tau cap is completley done so on to the next ship!

in other news now galaxy forge is out some maps for the mod would be cool if anyone wants to do some i'd find a suitable reward ;p the maps would prefferably concentrate on the eastern fringe of the 40k galxy around ,if memory serves me corectly, the ultima segmentum and the tau 3rd expansion

only if you can get us some textures spartan ;) and or some more uvmapage but atm i think we may have that covered...

no to somthing completley diferent... a an with 3 buttocs. we have code now thanks to blair so soon we should see some of these exelant models in game... if we can get a converter from .3ds/.max

This looks pretty slick. My b/f wasn't into this game when he was watching me play it, but after I showed him this thread he really wants to get into it >_>

ok time to let out a few secrets. first of all if possible there will be a planet killer. how it will be implemented is as such. each race will be very diferent from each other cos thats how they are in tt but we are also giving each race a focus for instance the imps will be very defenceive and the chaos will have very heavy cap ships

also in sins you have superweapons, lots of people think that sins dident pull them off very well, so we will have them too but in another form each race will ,if we can find a sutable unit (in fluff or rules), have a unit that epitomises their speciality the forces of chaos will there for have the planet killer the biggest baddest cap ship in the game, and the imps will have the ramalies class star fort a bloody huge defenceive waepon with the firepower equivilent to some of the biggest battleships (16 squadrons of strike craft anyone  :D ) these are in my opinion good super units cos they are capable of turning the tide and keeping it turned we dont know about the tau but sugestions are welcome they will be concentrating on strike craft (their 2 main caps are carriers) anyway very soon we will have a internal pre-alpha to start geting ideas in game

When someone says Chaos, I'm thinking "Blackstone fortress".
For Tau, it's a bit more difficult, as they're not really into big massive ships. It might be the Custodian class, but you've probably allready got that in as a capship. Maybe the Kroot Warsphere?

for the imperials I don't know if a fortress is the best way to go, as it doesn't move. Maybe one of the Battlecruisers would be a better choice, allready massive ships. Victory class, with big Heavy Lance batteries, or Retribution Class, with a massive broadside both sound very imperially :)

*disclaimer, I had to look up all of those names, except Blackstone and warsphere ;)
I need to find a BFG group again.

Hmm...Imperial Battleship...lances...Gotta make it the Apocalypse class. ;)

Activated Blackstones for Chaos would be evil.

Tau...Here's a thought I had. Tau tend to get a fair number of Imperial defectors. Might be worth keeping in mind if you need to fill any gaps.

I've always had a soft spot for BFG so if I have any other ideas I'll toss 'em up here.

we thought about each of these pretty hard, and while we like the blackstones, implementing them would be rather hard as a mobile force like the planet killer, because chaos' focus is really on the heavy caps vying for glory and killing loads of imperials along the way as well as their focus on the attack. If you have any ideas, i'd absolutely love to hear them, because I want to have a reason to put blackstones ingame.

About the warsphere, it's a good idea, but iirc a retrubution class battleship tore a warsphere to shreds through "fire superiority" (old tau codex, section on the damocles gulf crusade, so while big and scary, it's kind of slow and undergunned. While I like the idea, the lore rejects it too harshly. The tau are kind of hard to brainstorm because that's the only big scary thing they have in their lore other than crazy good diplomats and traders.

Also, we have plans (and I have the .entity files for chaos and some for tau) to make all ships for all races, and all the variants of ships for the shorter-handed races, so if you really like a ship in either the standard rules or armada, it will be in the mod (eventually).

as x said all ships will be in IF it can work and pending how many slots there are on the build menu's we will add armarda ships and even the book of nemesis (a fan made armarda style book) which has some very nice ships in it

blackstones are a hard one while they are mobile they are slow and activated ones are unbalancing to the max and also would have no counterpart in any other race. id love to add them too but i just dont see how.

ideas thats a resource we will never need less of and mor fluff heads is good cos from past experiance 1 fluff head will miss or miss-enterpret somthing and it could open alot of doorways (hapened with me on the adeptus mech mod for DoW)

Well, you could always make up a ship for the Tau to use as there supership. Just create something that would seem plausible in the 41st millennium and fit in with their style of attack and their fleets strengths.

Well, the Warhammer universe already has it's fair share of planet killing weapons.
Virus bombs and Cyclone torpedos and at least one weapon I'm forgetting.

I'm sure chaos managed to get a few of those during the Heresy. As for Tau, it's not really their style. It's hard to pratice Tau'va when you reduce the population (or the planet) to smoldering ruins.

Exterminatus, one result, multiple tools =)

Virus bombing is nice, Cyclonic Torpedoes to burn the atmosphere are fun, but I don't see the Tau doing either of those. Tau = Culture war? Join the Greater Good and you will be rewarded.
