I don't know if any of you guys are a fan of the mini's genera. Did anyone here ever play games workshops short lived Battlefleet Gothic.

That game was pretty fun.

Some of the stuff I liked from there.

1. Massive torpedoes

Were talking about ship killers that you had to move the ship out of the way from and could use to move other guys ships out of areas that you wanted to go into.

2. Boarding action

You could fire "boarding torpedoes" and basically take over a ship or failing at that sabotage large sections of it.

3. Ramming / Fire Ships

Some ships could ram it was pretty sweet some could also function like a big torpedo.... that was awesome.

4. The ships had sections you could knock out an engine ... that was pretty cool.

5. Ships could really blow up

As in they would implode and take down anyone who happened to be near them that was pretty awesome.

6. Some ships as i recall could use gravitic and solar wind effects

a comment on 3d combat for BFG, the ship designs were drawn up with the 2D gameplay in mind, as shown by the fact nearly all main weapons are broadsides.

as for other 3D BFG ships check out my mod page for supcom,

well the plan was to have it but only if it costs more than your own private planet (ie twice as much as your normal cap ship)

also iv been hosted at the sins modcraft thingie page here go and have a look im in the modding section

you could help by scouting the world for high quality texture artists lol

but doesnt hurt if you want to run your ow mod, you may take it in a different direction than myself.

how much diferent a direction is there? im trying to base it of the rule books as closley as possible

anyway if you do port over i would love to help in any way possible but for now i have to get back to sorting out emmiters and weapon fx

not at all but finding a good team IS hard, also if youve seen any of the stuff from the BFG mod for DOW you know what im talking about, they have taken a few liberties with the ship designs, a turn in the wrong direction in my opinion.

well we will be sticking as close as we can to the models in some places we may have to change then but if so that is only so we can make it work/look better in the end

so who wants to see the WIP desolator in-game?
well by wip i mean its got a model no texture and the emmiters are either buggy or not there... but it can fire its port lances

sorry i kinda went on a spree

thats it untextured if you go to my modcraft thread you can see some closer up pics (which are much better than these ones go look! and sign up while and post while your there)
soon i should have cruisers from inert and then i just have to find a uvmaper and i can have it textured!

i have acheved adding a new race (more info on modcraft) and adding a brand new ship not just edditing a current one

now on to balance looking at that ship cap ships will be fearsome enemies indeed able to anhialate frigates and possibly cruisers in one volly but ii am going to be reducing the number available significantley

now some info on how the races will play ... i'll start with marines
marines will have few ships (choice = 1 cap ship 1 light cruiser and 3 types of frigate) but each ship will be heavily armored and the cap ship and cruiser are both heavily armed and carry fighters fighters which are equaly as good at blowing up ships as blowing up enemy fighters and which take after their fleet and are very tough also most of the marine ships are very fast so look out their buildings will cary the same armor as their ships and be very resiliant they will have no real special equipment as they rely on raw power to see them through

the eldar on the other hand have very light equipment... untill you get hit by one of their light cruisers or frigates which pack capital class weapons they only get one choice of cap ship the void stalker it is fast as well as being powerful.also the eldar make the marines look like an old lady when it comes to speed able to turn twice as fast as any other ship and move faster with the sun in their sails thir fighters are a tad tougher than normal fighters but not as tough as the marines but they are faster they will have light armor on their buildings and will have webway portals that let them navigate space without using the safe warp lanes (phaselanes)

Very nice stuff Prezo. Sadly I know almost nothing about BFG so I cant help production wise but I'll support to the best of my abilities.

Not exactly, they both have the same 4+ save, so eldar fighters and thunderhawks are the same toughness. Also, eldar torpedoes and bombers are more deadly are more deadly and more likely to slip by turrets, and their holofields reduce the effects of lances and ordinance considerably. great work on the models, and its nice to see somebody else who knows the rules and the effect they have on gameplay. I think that the eldar in particular should be able to dodge a good bit of fire. Also, if you want me to send you the rulebooks in a developer-friendly format(i.e. I have pdfs for each race that have all the ships entries for that race combined in order, so you don't have to flip between files), just ask. They really are more convenient than the current batch of downloads. Just tell me what combination you want them in.

Unfortunately, accuracy is based on weapons not ships... not sure how you'd do that except by giving the Eldar ships all a passive "dodge" bonus.

well technicaly thats what holofeilds do and the reason that i said that eldar have slightly less armor on their fighters is because they get that save because in a dogfight they can outmanouver and outlast (fuel wise) their enemy right and so they are going to be faster atm im having a bit of trouble with the turning and how to impliment it in game
also on weapons i was looking at lances and thinking that lances with my current scale are so much worse than that of weapon battereis (of which their are always more of)then i remembered reading someware that lances are worth 3 WBs so atm the lances do thrice as much damage than WBs but now torps are underpowerd ... this will be real easy to code as soon as i have found a scale...
im just awaiting inert now and i will be able to show you all the cruisers then there is only 4 ships till chaos standard are done then another 2 till we have armarda aswell

anyway cruiser is almost done it was delayed by a freak blackout but is nearing completion i think all is needed is the bridge and then its just about done

and im not going to post a pic because of destraex  :(

dident i say we were doing all of them?... im prety sure i said we were doing all of them, and if you want em so bad help us out its not hard to learn to code and its always nice to have a back up specialy seeming that importing models with emmiters is currently looking like a full time possition (so many emmiters *twitch twitch*) anyway marines next then i recon the race after that will be decided ither by the people who help me or by a poll of some sort combined with me and inerts decision
in otherwords help us and you can get your say in what is made next

But after seeing all the Models Im thinking about one thing:
Stardock and Ironclad ask Games Workshop to make a

Sins of a Solar Empire
Battlefleet Gothic

extension.

After the great success of "Dawn of War" that would be the logical consequence.
Since SoaSe is made for the purpose of Space Combat..... as we all now :LOL:

yes but at the moment THQ holds the publishing rights to the 40k universe for games and such also yes i have seen that movie its an amalgamation of in game movies from i think fire warrior and final liberation (their may be another one) them making an official game would be great but until then you have us the modders anyway im going away for a week for cristmass so there will be no updates from me although i am urging inert to continue them so i will see you guys in a weeks time merry cristmas and a happy new appocalypse
