WINDOWS VISTA?

VISTA VS XP VS MAC VS H.P.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,134962/article.html#
I OWNED A VISTA COMPUTER FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS BEFORE I TOOK IT BACK. WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK. NOTHING CONNECTED UP TO IT, AND I BOUGHT ALL NEW PRINTER, SCANNER, VIDEO, MIC, ETC... SO IT WASN'T LIKE I WAS TRYING TO PIECE TOGETHER A MEGA SYSTEM FROM OLD PARTS. AFTER REVIEWING ALL THE (I LOVE VISTA SITES) I CAME UPON AN ARTICLE FROM PCWORLD IN WHICH ACER FINALLY HAD THE GUTS TO SAY WHAT I HAVE SAID ALL ALONG. VISTA SUCKS. BADLY THOUGHT OUT, NOT READY FOR RELEASE CRAP. AT LEAST WITH XP YOU CAN STILL PLUG AND PLAY WITHOUT THE MACHINE QUESTIONING EVERYTHING YOU DO AS IF IT THINKS IT KNOWS BETTER. I AM SURE THAT ALL THE VISTA LOVERS WILL ALSO LIKE THE NEXT LINE. BUY A NEW MAC! YOU GET THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS AND UP TO 3 TERABITE MEMORY. I HAVE BOTH AND NOTHING BEATS THE SECURTIY OF A MAC, AND THE EASE OF AN H.P. HAVE FUN BASHING THIS ARTICLE AND WHEN YOUR DONE GO TO YOUR LOCAL P.C.STORE AND FIND SOMETHING BETTER, OF COURSE FROM WHAT I AM READING ON THE VISTA POSTS MOST CAME FROM K-MART OR WALMART. (GO TO A REAL STORE) AND THOSE OF YOU STUPID ENOUGH TO DOWNLOAD IT TO YOUR XP...I AM SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.

I'm sure even a Mac has a caps lock key on the keyboard.

I'm also sure it won't bite you if you release it...

Caps will not help you see better...

Spectacles might...or lazer surgery....magnifying glass...bigger monitor....different resolution....

...but not caps....

From a technical standpoint, Ubuntu is superior to Vista and OSX, however the masses dont actually care about technical capabilities.  They care about what 'works', and if Windows has 'worked' for them for years, then theres no reason for them to not switch to the latest MS operating system.  As for OSX, while its superior in terms of UI and layout, the overall feel is that there is not enough software for it, and that its harder to develop for.  I can say that, as a power user, the lack of customization and upgradability in most Apple machines is a hinderance to me switching over.  Apple wins for design, Ubuntu for functionality, and Windows for the 'happy medium', and thats my evaluation of the playing field.

A Duke no less, fancy that....WC being graced by the presence of a Duke n' all. Anyhow, yer Lordship, I've been running Vista Ultimate for near on 8 months now and couldn't be happier with the OS.....but then I went into it with an open mind and wasn't influenced by the media/negative opinions of others. All my software works as it should and my printer behaves perfectly...in fact, everything works better for me on the faster, more stable than XP OS.

I will. however, get myself a Mac at a later date (because I'm not a MS fanboi and have nothing against Apple/Mac) and will assess it according to how it suits my needs, rather than form an opinion based on the thoughts/experiences of others.

....and Jafo's right about the caps....not the nicest to read.

Windows Vista is taking some serious hits in the gamer circle, the tech circle, and the budget/value consumer circle. About the only way it could be doing worse is if Microsoft decides to invade Iraq and occupy it for half a decade.

As for Vista, great concept but poop poor execution. If things don't run better, faster, smoother, and easier what is the point? Vista has a problem with being a mutant with 6 different versions and many of them not any better significantly then WIN XP.

In fact I predict with as dismal as Vista has turned out to be this may be an OS launch like Windows ME or 2000 with only a small market share actually going to vista unless Microsoft doesn't improve Vista to the level of a competitive OS with XP. They could end up servicing XP customers to 2015 at this rate.

Sucks to be a Vista liker.

A follow up to my initial thread. I hear they are working on xp3 and it is in beta form as I write this post. Says alot for Vista doesn't it? Thanks for backing me up on this one Dan, seems I am alone with my love for XP and Mac. And Starkers, the proper term for this level of peerage is Your Grace, I am glad you like your Vista and hope it works well for a long time for you, I just didn't care for mine, nor was I influenced by the writings of others on the system. Hope this is better to read as I am wearing my glasses today Jafo, and using a 42" monitor.
Until we meet again,
Best Regards

I'm sure Vista will continue to improve and become more of a necessity as 64bit computing becomes more mainstream. As of today it is not. The next operating system that Microsoft is working on is maybe be as major as XP has turned out to be. Vista may just be another sort of offshoot like WIN ME or WIN 2000 rather then the major development that XP was. I'd rather see Vista get backward compatibility and be more of a trial run rather than a total waste of a launch.

Others will disagree that it's a great OS and that it meets their needs but for me personally I don't think I'll be making the effort to upgrade with my next system yet.
