Wii users: are you still playing with it?

Wii users: are you still playing with it?

Note to readers seeing this article in areas where it seems out of place, Stardock replicates articles from the JoeUser.com sites into various Stardock affiliated sites.  That being the case you may see this article on a site that is primarily PC gaming oriented.  If you aren't interested in the subject matter, please ignore it and move on.  This article was properly placed in the Gaming -> Console Games area on JoeUser.com and was not posted into wrong areas just to confuse you or get you up in arms.

This question goes out to the folks that have been lucky enough to buy a Nintendo Wii console.  Just the simple question asking whether or not you are still playing with it?

Seriously, I've followed conversations among friends at another site I frequent and they've generally been making comments about 'The last time I turned it on...' or 'The last time I played with it...' with time frames of weeks at a time.

So, if you have a Nintendo Wii are you still playing with it? or, have you found yourself less enthusiastic and enthralled with the Wii than you originally thought?

Yes, the blind comment was only a joke. I guess I should have said it will make you grow hair on your palms from holding the Wii too long. <----

As I suspected. It's impossible to read people's tones over the internet.

Well anyway, the WII has ALOT of drawbacks. So you've got a swanky remote and you gained the casual crowd. It seems they have forgotten the hard-core ones. Serviceable graphics, but that at best. Look at all the games out there that are big. They all have good graphics, or atlest better than the Wii ones. But gameplay can only go so far. Some people like the wii-mote. For the Twilight Princess, I got it on Gamecube.

GOOD GRAPHICS!(Audio)

i don't think they forgot about hard-core gamers, i think they gave up on the democraphic around N64 days. since then nintendo's been much cartooney-er, had much less adult story themes, no blood, etc. i think they realized they weren't going to compete with the sony and microsoft for the overwhelming mid-teen to twenty-something male crowd that's almost synonymous with 'hardcore gamer.'

IMHO, most 'hardcore gamers' will always be dissatisfied if it's not a PC rig they can tweak themselves.

The best game that ever came out on the N64 was GoldenEye 007. It was just so simple and thats what makes it a classic.

Nintendo has always gone their own way and Nintendo has always made a profit on the systems they sell. They don't want to be Sony or Microsoft and they don't care about being perceived king of the console gaming hill.

It doesn't surprise me that few people are playing Wii with Summer in full bloom but once it starts to get cold again, the entire console gaming market will kick in to high gear in preparation for Thanksgiving sales. Then you will see who is playing with what and for how long.

Forgetting the hardcore gamers?

Practically anyone who owned a gamecube was a hardcore Nintendo fan. They have a rabid following, and they take advantage of that!

Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Metroid... these are the games they're making for the hardcore crowd. It's not being forgotten.

I still play it at least a few times a week, a little bit more than my 360. There are a ton of games coming out in the next few months for it (as well as 360) that I need to get my grubby hands on. Most excited for Super Smash Bros. Brawl but Mario Strikers Charged has been keeping me busy lately (great online play).

And Starstriker1, go pick up Super Paper Mario, its an awesome single-player game.

I've got it, actually. I need to get around to finishing it sometime.

What I'm really waiting for, though, is Metroid.
