Wow!! I just finished the first tutorial. I am so happy I bought this!! It is amazing; and to think it is a beta. Back to the game....

It's pretty amazing. One of the things I hope they have in the full game is the option to have more computers, or restrict the behavior of the computer slightly (such as how many planets they can control, or how aggressive/defensive they are, ect)

from the offical Multiplayer FAQ

Q. What is the maximum number of players allowed within a game?
A. Up to 10 players can play at the same time.

So i dont think we are gonna see more AI players. Maybe it can be modded
