Beer, Hotel, Rabbits, and Sheep

No, there's no weird animal sex thing going on in my hotel room.

As we have a big safety meeting tomorrow I am checked into the hotel for the night. Good chance to get some rest away from the truck before starting a hard run to Utah. I have to be there Monday in time to unload at an Air Force base and then reload for El Paso. Whew.

I went and picked up the load this morning. It's a snow broom truck. Yeah, it's summer. I picked up a snow broom. Go figure.

On my way back down from picking it up I passed by a farm with a big sign that read "Hare To Ewe Wool". I assume they raise animals and use their hair to create various yarns. I made a point of noting their location and will go back there when I am bobtailing so I can park and check them out. I may have found a source for some alternative yarns for knitting.

For now I am chilling out in the hotel enjoying a few cold ones and considering ordering a pizza. And doing a little knitting. It's going to be a hard run to Utah so I may as well get all of the relaxation time I can now. Oh there was one weird thing today. In the 11 years I have been trucking I've never been pulled for a random drug screen. Until today. I've just been lucky up to now as most drivers get tested once a year or so. I dutifully reported to the medical clinic, pissed in the plastic cup, and went about my bidness. While I was there I did manage to pick up a pair of shades to replace the ones I stupidly left in the bar in Knoxville. Another $85 bucks, but they're well worth it. When ya wear them all day every day ya want something comfortable and of decent quality.

! I didn't know what to expect from that title of yours! Glad there's no animals in there!!

That would be cool if that place is a source to buy wool. They probably have some interesting ones too - local places usually do.

Thanks. A person on one of my knitting forums lives around here and is gonna check the place out.

I'll get to Utah when I get there. Not gonna kill myself over it, but it's gonna be a hard run.

I have heard that some rabbits can be shorn for their hair.  But never seen it.  It must take a lot of them to get enough to make a desent skein (?) of yarn though.

Enjoy the trip as at least the scenery will be different for a change.

Yeah rabbit is pretty common actually, Angora for example (there's also an Angora goat). Not sure how many it takes though.
