Extra Large = size 12?!

I have recently had the daunting task of shopping for a formal outfit.  I am a full figured gal but have usually had good success in finding things that fit nicely off the rack.  I think perhaps having that third baby rectified that for the moment.

I found a beautiful black skirt that I loved so I bought that figuring I could find a top in pretty much any style to go with it.  Since dragging the baby store to store to try stuff on hasn't been all that much fun, I figured I would try to find formal clothes online.  I couldn't believe how many places listed size 10 as Large and size 12 as Extra Large!

No matter how much I've weighed over the years, I have always had an ample top.  It really sucks that I am considered large or extra large in order to find something that I'm not busting out of on the top.  I'm really getting discouraged.  Anyone else having this problem?

My experience with online shopping is they tend to be larger than store sizes.  For example, if you wear a 12, buy a 10, if you are a 10 buy an 8.

I've never gotten anything too small...but when ordering from various places I have gotten things in "my" size that were really at least a size too big.

Good luck.

Yow, I noticed that too. A lot of them are doing that and it's crazy!

ALWAYS check the measurement guide or fit guide. I've been anywhere from a perfect 6 to finding that 14 was too small! When I order online, I like to call and ask if the items run small as well.

some places are labling clothes smaller (an 8 is labled as a 6) to make women "feel" better. Who cares. I'm not small but it's just a label.

Clothing sizes can be so tricky for women. I agree with what LH says. You can be a size 6 and not fit into some size sixes. Sometimes a size smaller or bigger will end up fitting you instead...it's crazy.
