okay off topic, but is anyone looking forward to seeing (no pun intended) Blindness? the novel was one of the best i've read in years.

no i don't think so Cloverfield was a monster movie shot in FPV this is like a horro movie.

Hrm, that FPV made the tension higher in Cloverfield...more immersed you in the scene.  The Blair Witch Project was good in this sense (and about only this lol).

I only thought that from the few clips I saw in the commercials and the narrator saying 'nobody knew what happened....until now'.  My wife won't be seeing this movie in theatres, so I'll probably be waiting until DVD.  Most of my friends that like these movies as well, wait until DVD since theatre prices are just....bad.

Speaking of Cloverfield, i actually really enjoyed that movie. Monster movies are often poorly done, but Cloverfield was a refreshing take on the genre.....though i hear rumblings of a sequel.

Not sure if i like that.....

Blindness does seem interesting Dys, i hadnt heard of it before, again, a near original look on a done to death genre but with one very special thing.

Danny Glover.

Is he one of the most underated actors these days. I dont mean the lethal weapon years, but lately he has had some terrific roles and pulled them off brilliantly, but has kinda gone under the rader somewhat.

Aye...I think my personal favorite scene in the movie was them ducked between the cars while the military comes by firing away.  The feeling of being small in comparison to the event at hand and the magnitude of what's going on I think was at it's peak at that point.

The ending however, for the irony it entails, gets honorable mention. /bows

This movie was the first movie in a long time that I've stayed all the way thru the credits, just to see if they had some news footage as a followup to what happened in NY.

Blindness (the novel) wasn't a "suspense" story. IMHO it was more like one of those stories about how fragile "civilization" really is, and how easily human beings can and usually do revert to a state of barbarism. but it wasn't as simple as that, as all that depravity and inhumanity was juxtoposed against people who were sensitive, deeply compassionate and openly vulnerable. Sarmago won the novel prize for a reason. i'm just hoping the movie holds a candle to the novel.

hey guys, i have an idea. instead of complaining about Harbourne, who is indeed a turd (to put it very, very nicely), i'm going to show him that he's got nothing on us.  i'm gonna to set a goal for myself of playing at least 50 ZYWs over the next 2 weeks. it won't be easy, since i don't exactly have a lot of spare time, but i'll find a way to do it.

don't get me wrong, i'm not going all "think positive" or anything. competition is good, and this is the sorta thing that'll only bring us closer to the flealines and first place.

I dont think Harborne will take notice or even care. *shrug*

BTW, I broke my personal ZYW record today, scoring 100,450.

i think he'll notice, personally, just never admit it. but i don't think he'll overtake the top 3 any time soon. he's at 5 million, looking at almost 9 million just to overtake the dilopmats, 13 million for us, and 25 million for y'all.

heh, of course you can. i was only speaking for myself, though i'm glad you're on board with the "thrust for more points" idea  i just don't have energy left at the end of my day to spend time thinking about trolls, 20-year-old kids and other other people i generally place in the "loser" file. life's too short, ya know? 

Not the most effective way of increasing points.  I started out in 29th place with over 600k points before starting a ZYW run.  (I still have my mumbler in my "Evil Twin" character and will take it up after more ZYWs). 

The points will start going positive before long though.  I'm a bit rusty at the ZYWs for now, but that's changing as we speak.   

good game motti! you should post some tips on getting ZYWs up that high... as committed as i am, i'm definately not the same caliber you are.

I have nowhere near the abilities of KP or Mag, but I'm working on it.  OK, not really working on it so much.  Just having a few margaritas and clicking the mouse.

Trying to talk the wife into loading one of my spare GalCiv2 copies on her machine and joining the fray.  I still have two in the boxes that I haven't loaded up anywhere or given away yet.  I think she needs a few more margaritas before she agrees to try it though.

Well i will bring Centurion Neilo out of retirement and rush to 500 games. I could be there within two days but i will take a little longer. There is no way that i am going to let Harborne be the first to 500 games. The ZYW is my bandwagon and i'll be damned if he is going to jump right on and gain some recognition out of it....

i have a mumbler half way done, should be good for 800K+ and i have my other ZYW char that has only played a few games so he has great value in him with the gigantic ZYW's.

Well done KP on breaking the 100K barrier!!! I cannot break my score in the 90K's, i dont even recall the exact score, but i can, once i get back intot he swing of it, knock out a gigantic ZYW in about 5~6 minutes, though about 12 is the average.

Edit - Don't ya love that edit works again now, that post was a real mess before i edited it.....how i got multiple 9's throught the post i don't know...
