Like Rosanne Rosannadanna Said...

It's Always Something

I got up nice and early this morning, had some coffee and oatmeal while trying to fight off a serious cigarette craving, cleaned up a bit, took a brisk walk around the parking lot, and then put my rig in the wind.

It was looking like it might be a decent day. That is until it started warming up a bit and I realized that somewhere between yesterday afternoon and this morning my air conditioner went south on me. Damn. It's always something isn't it? I pulled off my shirt and hit the buttons to roll down the windows to let the wind blow in to keep me reasonably cool.

Now I like fresh air as much as the next person but after a few hours the wind noise becomes annoying as hell.

I finally made it to the truck stop in MO where I had planned to stop to fuel up and grab a shower. The shower had me feeling a bit cooler and I had changed from jeans and boots into my normal FL wear of shorts and flip flops as well as my tee shirt from my favorite recumbent dealer.

I rode a few more hours with the windows down and finally had enough of the noise and pulled into a small truck stop in IL. I'll just break here for tonight and get an early start in the morning. Maybe I can beat it on up to WI before it starts getting warm again.

I have to get the truck to the body shop tomorrow after unloading so as to get an estimate on the needed repairs, so I guess the ac won't get fixed until Wednesday.

Oh well, at least my generator is still working.

So far.

I rarely use my AC (in my new truck even!), but then I am not driving for a living.  The wind noise would get to me after a while if I was!

I think you got gremlins!

Yeah, when I owned a car it didn't even have ac. But in a rig they have such a huge surface area that the sun turns them into an oven in no time, and running with the windows open really gets to you after a few hours.

If your genny is working at least you can plug a fan in...

Not much help if you're driving a cabover though, those fuckers get HOT inside. For your sake, I hope you're in a conventional rig.

The generator is working fine. When I am parked it provides ac for me. It's enough to cool the sleeper but that's about it. I have a 12 volt fan I'm using right now while driving but it isn't really a lot of help.

Yeah, I drive a conventional. A 2006 Western Star. I haven't been inside a cabover in years.
