Wow, Tex, she looks so much like you in a couple of those shots!  Especially the second one.

I've NEVER seen a bf baby that chubby.  She looks happy and healthy.  You are doing a great job.

I've seen way chubbier.  She's a nice, smoochy, snuggly size.  I commend you for getting the pictures out there.  I just don't know where the time goes!  Izzy is a doll.  Ashley just had her 9 month check up.  She's 22lbs and 30 inches already!  Healthy and fun as can be.

Happy Mother's Day, today and everyday.

Toblerone: Thanks. How is Mr. Griffin? Izzy says to tell him, "ngah pfffftttt"...she says he'll know what it means. Haha.

LW: Will do! She is actually very ticklish!

Tova: Thanks. Gosh, I hope she doesn't look too much like me, poor girl! I can't decide who she looks like. It's a different person day-by-day.

She is definitely nice and plump and healthy. We're going to start solids in about a month, and I know she's going to love it. But yep, that's all milk! It does a baby body good.

LW: For some reason her hair always looks kind of reddish in pics. I hope it grows in with that reddish tint. Right now in natural light it's kinda blonde in front and then dark brown in back.

She also has that ridge on the top of her head, which is completely normal and will smooth out as her skull grows, but it looks so weird.

Mason:

LOL. Thanks.

Jill: Yeah, I know of a baby only a couple weeks older than her who weighs like 31 lbs. Hahaha. Insane. Poor mommy. He's formula fed, but still, that's a big boy!

Heh, as fast as the time goes, I wish it would go faster.

Ashley sounds wonderful. Hard to believe she's already 9 months. Are you doing any baby signing? Congrats on her stats.

Post some pics, woman. I haven't seen that little girl in a loooong time!

Buddah: That's really nice. Thank you!

Ditto. She is lovely and looks happy and content with life. Her brother obviously adores her. Lovely pics, thank you for sharing them with us.

Poison: Thanks. Both of her brothers are crazy about her.

She's gorgeous--but you knew that, right?

Are you doing any baby signing?

Is this common? Are you doing it with Izzy? My sister-in-law started it with my niece and now that she's one she's got quite a few signs down. It's a great tool for before they are talking fully. I hadn't really heard of parents doing it until my SIL started.

Awww, thanks shades.

I haven't started signing with her yet, but I plan to start very soon (she'll be 6 months at the end of May).

They actually have free baby signing classes on post (6 mo. +), and lots of the mommies I know are doing it or plan to! In fact, there's one baby I know of who is only a month older than Izzy and she can sign "all done", "more", and "milk".

I have heard that it can delay talking, but I think that is more likely if you sign without also speaking. So I will make sure she hears the words often as well.

"all done", "more", and "milk".

Those were Abby's favorites when I saw her in March. I think my SIL mentioned the delayed talking too, as a concern, but Abby is very vocal (if not quite grasping full words yet). I worked at a head start program for a little while with infants and toddlers and there seems to be so many reasons that talking gets delayed in kids that I think it would be hard to scientifically pinpoint signing as the root cause in a particular child. I would imagine (but I'm no expert) that you are right, as long as you remain vocal, signing shouldn't delay speech.

Abby also has a spanish speaking babysitter who is instructed to only speak spanish to her -- now that to me would be confusing, but apparently its the way to get kids to learn multiple languages from the get-go.

Hopefully Izzy will take well to it. She can indicate her wants and needs reasonably well now with her body language/crying, but I am hoping that signing will make trying to communicate less frustrating for her.

That is really cool about your niece. How old is she?

Adrian wishes his mom had used Spanish at home with him. He barely knows any now. Babies and young children are like little sponges. They learn so much more easily than we do.

Abby turned one in March. She's got the entire family wrapped around her little fingers--it's great fun to watch my dad with her! I'll try to post some pictures of her, if I can figure out how.

Let's see if this works!

So cute! What a little turkey, getting into the dog's food! Hahaha.

And she has hair. Izzy and I are jealous!

If you look closely, the recycling bin is behind the dog's food. Moments later she came out with a bottle of beer. I figured it was better not to post that picture!

She's more than enough hair to share with Izzy. Apparently, it gave mom some awful heartburn too!

Hahahahhahaaa. That's too funny. Glad to know you got a pic of it. Hehe.

Kids are so much fun.

Xavier was bald, Orian had TONS of hair, and now Izzy is bald. Poor little girl. Of course, I was bald til I was like 2, so I guess it makes sense.

And this has to be the longest nap ever...she is straight snoozin'.

It's been said, it's been stated - but I just think you should be elated.

She's a super-cutie!

She is just adorable, Tex. And she is getting so big too. Yep, what a cutie indeed.

Thanks SC & Maso.

The other day Adrian reminded me that she isn't a Barbie. Haha. But she's so fun to dress up and take pictures of!
