We had a Hanami party today.

When we used to live in Japan, we would enjoy going to hanami parties in the spring.  "Hanami" means "looking at flowers."  It is a time of year when groups of people go to their favorite parks, gather around a blossoming cherry tree, and enjoy a picnic lunch.

Japanese hanami parties are usually held in late-March or early-April.  Since we live in Minnesota, we have to wait until mid-May before we can enjoy a hanami because our trees have only recently blossomed.

Today my wife prepared a Japanese box-dinner (bento), and we enjoyed it under our blossoming crabapple tree after I came home from work for the day.  It was really pleasant.

Later on this year, I am hoping to invite a few friends over to enjoy a hanami party.

Here is the food that my wife prepared:

Mom and Dad posed for pictures with the baby during our dinner:

Kenny got to enjoy his dinner outside too.

Oooh, all the food looked really yummy!

Your little boy just gets cuter and cuter!

I think I might have to have a hanami party of my own this week.  We have a tree down the street that's just come into flower.

What a fierce look that little bruiser has, and yet as fluid as his mother and as happy as his papa. Blessed Spring!!
