Just Missed it

Crap

Looks like I missed Beta 1. In fact I found my way over from the gamespot site and never knew about this game until today. Do I just pre-order now and I can get into Beta 2 when it comes out? I beta tested galciv2 and I think stardock/ironclad do an awesome job at listening to the community for suggestions. Can't wait to get in beta 2 and thumbs up to stardock and friends.

Yep, just preorder and you'll be in beta2 when it starts. And they won't bill you until beta 2 starts.

It's still possible to get into Beta 1, but you'd need to become a TotalGaming.net member and pre-order it using tokens. Since tokens are deducted immediately, it's a legitimate way to bypass the Beta closure date.

Wow I have never used totalgaming.net before and it was so easy. Plus looks like I will be able to save some cash on a couple of other games. Not sure why I did not get galciv2 that way. Thanks Craig for the back door info.

Oh man no edit button that I can see. Anyway shot outs to Yarlen also. I got my key so now just need to get out of work later today and DL the beta. Oh man work time better pass by quickly today.

Not being able to edit a post as soon as someone replied is quite usual indeed. That makes sense but that's what "QFT" quotes are made for
Anyway, time to fork out a few tokens I guess

You're welcome. My side-gig is running TotalGaming.net, so I know how to work the system.

They'll be quite a few more games to spend tokens on in the near future too.

Well I have 5 tokens left. Looks like totalgaming has lots of small cool games as well as the more popular ones. I have a feeling I am going to blow my other 5 tokens fast.

Hmmmm running into an issue. I have SDC updated and have a serial number from my token purchase on Totalgaming.net but on SDC I can't find where do DL the beta. What am I missing?

N/M just figured it out you register first. DOH!!

Actual picture of Yarlen when he's in Total Gaming manager mode... Look at him craving the possible sale!

Yarlen can sell me on totalgaming any time. Better then buying from EA or other enormous companies. I like my money going to the smaller guys.....well stardock is growing but hey they put out good stuff. BTW I think Stardock is based in Michigan and is only an hour or two from my house....why don't you guys throw parties like I always read about but they end up in California and not even close to me. I give a to a possible fans get together.....ok I have gone way overboard.

Ok can't edit again. Anyway the parties I read about are for Blizzard or eve online but they are either in california or in freaking europe.

i believe its because the database havent updated it, or something. But it works for me to re-enter the thread and i see the edit

Lordkosc/Multianna - LOL!  You two slay me!

lblarel - Good to hear.   We don't have parties because we're geeks and we're in Michigan.

BTW, you can only edit posts in two cases:  if you have the god-like powers of an admin or if no one else has posted after you. (Though, granted, the database is being unhappy today but that should be fixed tomorrow.)

*wishes he had the god like admin powers to make sure every post by Schem were made to sound like they were written by a 5 year old.*
Reply #22 Top
no goddy powers cant help with that, as they are already posted by a 5 year old

So the buying tokens and pre-ordering the game on totalgaming.net worked. Any of you waiting for beta 2 but really want to get a feel for the game sooner should look into doing this. My little over an hour with beta 1 has greatly impressed me at how far the game is along. I know they say beta 1 is not designed to be fun but right now at work I can't wait to get home and play......it may be a sign of what SOASE is going to be. I guess instead of the just one more turn feel I am getting the just one more minute feeling.
