On The Road Video - End Of The Trip

I really liked the transitions in this one--and the music! good work!

This is a pretty interesting idea.   Trucker-life always seems to have a certain romantic quality to people who dont do it:  open road...new things every day, etc.   (If you're not married it's probably a whole different level!)

If you own that rig, maybe put some kind of swivel-mount on the dashboard.  You could feed the video out to a laptop to see where you're filming.  Could even have a "notch" that you know is pointed right at your face.  Would get rid of a lot of the shake.

Also I'm not sure what kind of camera it is, but there might be better ones out there for filming on the road....of course a smaller camera has it's advantages too! heh

It is just a small multi-function camera. Slightly larger than pocket size, but not by much. Actually, mounting it to the truck would increase the shaking quite a bit. You can't believe how much a truck vibrates, shakes, and bounces as it's going down the road. The little camera has shake reduction technology, but it just can't handle all of the motion of a big rig bouncing down the road.

Most of the really shaky looking shots were when I had the camera zoomed in on something, which really increases the shaking effect, like the "speed trap ahead" sign. That was shot at 10x zoom.

My truck actually rides quite nice, I'd hate to see what the video would look like from a cab over.

I get a kick out of those. There are several of them on the sides of trailers along that stretch of road leading into that particular town. I'm guessing some trucking company got tired of their drivers getting tickets for doing 1 or 2 mph over the limit through there and put them there to warn people.

That little town really is a bad speed trap. I suppose it's their only source of income. I usually roll through it well under the posted 45mph speed limit.

I guess you know, but some might not, we're pretty spoiled Canada-side. You've gotta be over 120 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone before you get ticketed and the government even posts signs to advertise that fact. Good view as usual!

Many localities give you 5 or 10 mph over the posted limit, but it is a local option. You very rarely see anyone in this state pulled for 0-5, and very few for 5-10 over the limits. But each jurisdiction can enforce the limit as they see fit.

Yeah I always liked the Canadian speed enforcement, very forgiving. I was once pulled over for going something like 50 kph over the limit and the cop just gave me a lecture and let me go. Of course I used the dumb American doesn't understand metrics excuse, which to me was hilarious as my primary degree is in Electronic Engineering
