For every action there is an effect. Cause and effect that is the basis laws of physics and of life. This isn't the first time US looking for short term economic gain or political stability and neglect the suffering/human rights of the naive people of that country. The consequences of the actions NATO nations after WII on the middle east are presently coming to fruition.
All actions have consequences...though they may be unknown at the time, they will always come to fruition in a year or in 50 years. Whether they be a sweet fruit or bitter one depends on our actions.

Too bad for China, if they ever want to be considered an equal in the capitalist and democratic world their going to have to give their people more freedom. Which will give them more respect in the international business community. Which they are seeking

Even tho the United States owes china money, its not going to matter especially with very conservative presidents in office. If their going to want more recognition, which they are desperately seeking. Its one of the main reasons why their countries citizens are learning English at an extreme rate.

However China also has the opportunity to switch the business language to Chinese, but it appears at least for now they have opted for English because it is already widely used.

Its small things like this (censorship) that could have the potential to literally cause the business community of china to create a capitalist revolution. Businesses deal in money, and wholeheartedly prefer types of government that do not interfere directly in their practices. Unfortunately communism is such a type of government that does.

Which translates into nothing, because I'm sure the Chinese aren't spending much time worrying about how democratic they look to everyone else. It's no incentive to change.

who gives a damn about respect? what they need is a market, and for that you cant really be "partially capitalist"

the wise choice... stick with english, dont issolate your market

*cough*
the "People's Republic of China"
I'm sure they dont have that name just for PR, no way...

exactly.

The fact that China is communist is what makes it work so well as a cheap labor source.

Communism is notorious for keeping everyone poor, so in reflection Corporations and the US would want to keep China mostly communist, to make sure that there is a constant supply of cheap labor.
thats paradoxical.
companies want cheap labor for themselves, but they dont want other companies expending money out to China, then they lose their market. its benefitial to one company if they are the only ones to do it, but its detrimental to all if they all do it.

whoa, this was a huge turnaround. did you just admit communism SUCKS?

Yes, but thats why they pay them such a small wage. So that they can prolong the cheap labor as long as possible.
The companies dont really care about their workers there, they just want to make sure labor remains cheap so that they earn as much money as possible. Its kind of twisted in my opinion.

I never said it rocked.
It was probably the greatest form of government ever theorized. Sadly people just cant take a good thing and keep it, they have to mess it up.
Thats why I favor socialism, it creates a balance of things, so everyone isnt just screwed over by the companies that own the nation.

Unfortunately (Though I am not sure its a bad thing), the way the socio - political turn of events are heading. In 100 years corporations will rule the world, most likely in peace. Can't have their consumer base dying.

Unless some major event happens; Global Warming, Alien Invasion, and maybe AI war... I don't know. But the way things are heading, the only true threat to peace and stability is terrorism.

Communism was a unique form of government, that if operated correctly would be great. Unfortunately it doesn't because in todays world people are still judged by monetary status, and not for the things they do to advance our species.

The best form of government is the one theorized by Robert Heinlein in starship troopers (Its a political and social essay in the backdrop of science fiction). A form of government where through meritocracy service does can achieve more aspirations and goals. And only through trying to advance the community (our species) as a whole can one follow ones dreams; Politics, College, etc... etc...

socialism is a type of economy. something can be socialist and communist. in fact socialism lends itself to communism.

yes I understand that. whats not good for them is that other companies are doing the same outsourcing, so their primary markets are failing.
stupid, stupid CEOs.

its better than socialism...
at least for me anyway, scientists are the lynchpins of many corporations

I dont think so. communism is like Romeo and Juliet, by far the simplest, and to most people it sounds the best. but it lacks the fundamental workings that allow other governments to succeed. Communism is simply too simple to serve any useful purpose, so it gets twisted into what it is today.
A form of government where through meritocracy service does can achieve more aspirations and goals

it also means we have to each be grey individuals of exactly equal talent.

Who says you will be the one working. In a hundred years the rest of the world will catch up to the US. Everyone would achieve equal opportunity, which means that you will most likely be replaced by the still cheaper labor source.

It just didnt have the safe guards, in its defence it has been quite a new form of government. Maybe, through severe genetic improvement and obediance programs it would be able to function in the future.

so funny. you should be a comedian.
first of all America will not be surpased as easily as you naivly believe. secondly "Equal opportunity"? maybe thats why you believe in communism...

Isnt equal opportunity what this country is built on? Chose your words carefully Schem.

again, naive.
opportunity open to all, and equal opportunity are different. unfortunately I would like to dispell such things as racism, sexism etc. but it will be impossible to allow everyone equal opportunity, there are such things as skills that you need, and you also have to be born in lucky circumstances to really have a chance at being smart.
People like you make sure it wont, along with the power hungry who take advantage of it.

or maybe, it just sucked so freaking bad that people like Saddam and Stalin took advantage of it.

I prefer to work a more elegant system, like capitalism.

again, communism wouldnt have failed if somebody had a hint of foresight, it simply is too simplistic to take into account all the subtleties of civilization and certainly is too rigid to accept change without fucking the people over.

Your arrogance betrays you. Communism won WWII. If it wasnt for Communism Russias millitary would not have been able to hold of the Nazis long enough for the Allies to finally stop squabling and actually star sending forces to Europe.

Russia suffered the worst out of all of them, over 20 million dead, 5 million of them civilian casualties. Once again because of the failure of democracy.

This nation might be close to perfect, but it just takes one person to destroy it all again. Dont think that Democracy will stand forever, even here. People are always weak enough to immagine that they live in a fortress of steal, while in reality its just a glass buble.

I prefer to work a more elegant system, like capitalism.

Its only elegent because it has been around for so long.

or maybe, it just sucked so freaking bad that people like Saddam and Stalin took advantage of it.

Again, same thing happened to democracy a thousand times over. If im not mistaken, and I am no I am not, democracy has spawned some of the most notorious and cruel dictators of all time.

again, naive.

Intelligence is nothing, skill is what makes the world what it truely is. You can be the smartest person in the world, but if you dont have charisma then all you do will be for naught.

Plus, you misread what I think is equal. Everyone has a chance, but the chance varies.

I would have to beg to differ there, DRIVE is what makes or breaks someone, obviously skill and intelligence as well as charisma are important, but as long as the sum of these qualities within you is > than average (how do we define average?) and you are willing to work, things will happen for you.

Isnt equal opportunity what this country is built on? Chose your words carefully Schem.

This country was founded on that ideal, but as things stand now, no, this country is currently controlled by a hegemony, powerful corporations and powerful familys drive it, look at the founding of the CIA.

People like you make sure it wont, along with the power hungry who take advantage of it.

This is a flaw in the system, not the populace, try finding a system that fits the people in it, rather than a people that fits your system (i'm holding back some of the more colorful adjectives i'd like to throw in here, as the ignorance of Communism frustrates me.
