Weapon types and "averange damage"

I was wondering if they weapon types matter. As it is now, I really don't know the difference betwee "laser" or "autocannon".

Also, the rating of "average XXX damage" is not very informative. Personally, i'd rather see a nice RPG show of damage distribution, .

NOT:
"Average laser damage 42"

INSTEAD USE:
"Laser damage 36-48"
OR:
"Laser damage 36-48 (42)" For those less mathematically gifted.

I'd live with that... Or show the base damage of a given weapon + the increase it recevied from being upgraded via research.

Laser damage 42 + 11

I'm pretty sure they represent damage-over-time.

Like though the marza has a missile damage rating of 22 at level 1, the missiles hit pretty damn hard.

Yeah i think also its a average over time. If you took the beam weapon as a example.

It might have 15 as average dmg displayed. Its actual dmg pr shot might be...

50 pr sec for 3 sec = 150

7 sec cool down on weapon

10 sec total of 150 dmg = 150/10 = 15 dmg pr sec as displayed.

With the OP's suggestion of something like "36-48" i take he means on a pr shoot basis. But then you would have to figure in rate of fire. That is already taken care of in the average over time estimate.

My point is that while a beam weapon might show 150 dmg, and a autocannon might or laser might show 10. The laser or cannon can actauly do more dmg then the beams becouse rate of fire isnt figured in. So this can be misleading.
