the resource ships pick up resources from space but it seems that the first thing they do is finish off the resource astroids

The resource ships are supposed to continue gathering resources from empty mines to ensure you will still get metal, and crystal resource even after the mines deplete themselves.

Yeah its not a bug, it says so in the description of the Refinery Station. Is everyone trying to find fault with this game? (The question isn't meant as an insult, just a lot of people with hot air as of late.)

Hey its fine, but yeah its their so the economy can be driven. My guess, is that its a TEC only structure which gives them an advantage in the economy portion of the game. In the TEC's backstory, they were the financial, cultural, merchant masters of their domain. And thats why in general their ships aren't powerful.

I concur with Lock_Eye, this does seem to be a TEC only thing, I'm certain Vasari and Advent will both have their own unique buildings to help them late game as well(such as possibly the ability to build ships for cheap, but take longer to build) or mayhap build 2 for the price of one...those sort of things...

lol, the Vasari and Advert will probably have something along the same same, the Advert sounds like they would be able to extract resources from even the harshes conditions as they make their home on a desert planet and the Vasari would probably be able to extract it at a relatively faster rate as they are on the run from something. This might mean that the Vasari gains resources fast, thus allowing them to expand faster and the Advert can extract more resources from an asteroid, alowing them to survive longer on any given resources than another race.

Read the 1up preview. The TEC's tech tree is very focused on Trade and Industry.
