Bearded No More

Bearded No More

i finally gave in to the call of the badger bristle shaving brush, imported shaving soap, and double edge Merkur Slant. I shaved off my beard.

I did keep my Fu style moustache though. Don't want to get too carried away. I look more like my old self now, and several years younger.

But my face is cold.

As my beard had grown quite long and thick it was a real bear to remove even after trimming it down with scissors first. I didn't get the closest shave I've ever had but after not shaving for several months I didn't want to abuse my skin too much. It's a reasonable shave and looks decent if I can feel that it isn't perfectly smooth. I made sure to use an ample amount of balm afterwards so that the skin doesn't get irritated from the unfamiliar shave.

Ah well, it's only hair and I can grow it back whenever I want. there's always next Winter.

Great moustache but isn't it a handlebar, not a fu manchu?

Either way, I'd be proud of one like it. I'm doing the exact opposite from you Mason, and growing a beard for winter. It has been a few years since I have, so I'm not sure how it will turn out.

Nope, it's a Fu. A handlebar grows out to the sides and then is waxed and twisted into a pair of handlebars.

Some folks mistakenly call a Fu Manchu "biker handlebar".

Good luck with your beard. Keep us posted with pics.
