Will this end up like Nexus?

Sales wise

Do you think this will end up like Nexus ? What I mean is will it be a great beautiful game that no one buys and then it doesn't get a sequel/expansion.

'Nother question: do the ships in this explode like the Nexus nuke? If not, can you please post a screen of one blowing up? Also, if they are damaged, do they vent atmosphere and things (like the crew) into space?

I hope not... Plus the game isn't that much like nexus, nexus was too single player focused...

Nexus was too "Point, Click, and Pray that it works" I felt like i had very little control over my units. It was a very good looking game, but it lacked gameplay IMO. Nexus suffered from a very poor marketing campaign, and lack of support. I dont foresee Stardock abandoning this jem anytime soon

As spectacular as the Nexus nuke seemed, I can't get over the fact that it is just the screen going white.

I think with all the hype around Sins, it should make at least a respectable profit.

No it wasn't. If were in close it did. If you zoom out, there is actually an effect to it.

Also there was heaps of gameplay in Nexus. Did you find the weapons and repair control panels? And the enemy targeting panel? You chose where they went, who they shot, or scanned, with what weapon against what system.

But the missions were very scripted.

Judging from the interface (multiple systems, orbits, planet types etc) there was at one stage going to be a whole lot more to this game. I think that is what Ironclad is trying to avoid.

Trying to figure out what ship upgrades were the ones you needed sucked....

Yeah, it meant you had to play EVERY mission at least twice.

I disagree, you could stick to a basic loadout in Nexus and if you knew how to maximise your ships potential including manual movement for accurate disabling of subsystems, your one loadout-fits-all ship could be very effective.

Back on the topic of the OP I have a feeling this game may well end up like Nexus in terms of its reception, sales and publicity, although it does have a few things going for it that Nexus did not, mainly 4X style gameplay and the 4X crowd as well as RTS gameplay and the scifi RTS crowd which could give it that extra oomph of fans and publicity to make it a greater commercial success than Nexus ever was.

Nexus - great game. SoaSE, already not a waste of money and its only the beta, which is more than can be said for a scary volumne of games these days. MIITW anyone?

I hope we get a game like Space Rangers that is within the Sins universe...using the entire galaxy...yeah!

M2 wasn't a waste, it just really failed to improve the UI and things...oh well!
