No Appleby's Tonight

I was considering walking over to Appleby's for dinner and a couple of brews. A short walk down the hallway in the hotel quickly changed my mind. There is no way my back will allow a walk that long. I thought it was feeling a little better until I took that short walk and found my legs wanting to buckle and my back screaming in pain. Screw that. I like their food, but not that much.

There is another trucker staying here at the hotel who works for a different company. I met him in the hall, chatted for a minute, and mentioned that I was low on smokes. He offered to go over to the grocery store and pick me up some smokes and a 12 pack.

When he got back with my smokes and brews I told him to keep the change (around 5 bucks) for his trouble but he wouldn't accept it. Nice guy but I kinda felt bad about putting him through all the effort for nothing.

So I have beer, smokes, and have ordered a pizza delivery. Not Appleby's, but better than nothing.

Maybe I'll feel up to walking over there sometime this weekend. For now I'm not gonna push it too hard. I need to get better so I can get back to work.

Would you have kept the change?

Ok, so he is one of you.  At least you can rest in comfort!  And heal!

Yeah, that's a good point. I wouldn't have kept the change either.

My pizza finally arrived and at least I can eat.

ahww.. now I'm hungry. I love to gross the kids out with those tasty yet furry little morsels with or without pizza. Now I have to eat something else salty cuz we're all out!

BTW glad you found one of the good guys, Mason.

What a nice bloke. I agree with Doc's assessment. He is one of you.

I'm glad you finally got pizza too but, like Don, as far as I'm concerned it is not complete without anchovies.

I can't stand the nasty little critters so there will never be a shortage on my account.

Thanks, there's still a few good folks left in the world.

That stuff is terrible. It must be an acquired taste.

That's what I thought the first (and last) time I tried it.

I think it's great when a stranger does something to help another out.

Have the Drs said how long you can expect to be down or in pain with this "sprained" back?

It sounds more serious than a sprain to me.

I just got back from the torture, I mean doctor appointment. At this point it's unclear how long I'll be down. I have a follow up Tuesday morning.
