Transpot\Colony Ships

When you use a transport ship to colonize a planet you don't lose the ship... do you?

I would hope so, I'd like to think the colonists canalized the ship for parts/tools to start the new colony.

I just want to know if they will at least have BASIC armor/shields/weapons... Or will they be sitting ducks?

since we do start with our very own homeworld and if the colony ships are sitting ducks so then i would prepare couple of destroyer and few other fleets of frigates and carriers giving a priority escort on my colony ships. or scout the other planet and make way for my accupational force to settle in before sending my colony ship to colonize the planet. this way you won't have to worrie about escorting your colony ship becuase the planets outer sector is already being scanned and patroled by my frigate and fighter fleets.

im with you on this one
Its also seems realistic.

I also think that, it will be like that. Or else you could just spam colonize planets with the same one.

maybe a a single or few flak cannons?

accupational

as in sharp, a pointutational force.
Transpot

is that like, when you try different types of pot all at once?
canalized

as in, canned soup?

back to reality: I like it being consumed for colony creation.
maybe some limited self defence (at least for the TEC)

You stole my witty remark, curses
Though mine was wittier

as in sharp, a pointutational force.

Schem, not nice to critisize, I am sure he meant occupational.

wit is only useful if you can get there first

I hope you're not being serious.
of course I knew that.

I know that you knew, it is not nice to critisize peoples grammar. You make mistakes too you know. And I only critisize them half the time

There used to be a ship listed with a special ability of "colonize." Of course that has been removed from the site but it did exist at one point.

I suppose that doesn't rule out the possibility of the the ship using it being "destroyed" in the process but it suggests to me that the ship isn't destroyed.

I had the impression from an old walkthrough that colonizers dropped resources off for colonization rather than getting cannibalized themselves.

oh gawd, i hope they send me lots of those transpot to boost up moral issues on planet alkari. i would believe we'd need to expect a riot if the shipment doesn't arrive on time maybe we should all invest on u.p.s for special delivery.

you can make all the spelling mistakes you like but, it spelled ALCARI, with a C !
any and all moral issues are the fault of the current owner, I expect you to have a lot gun. My vast, sun eclipsing, deathfleet tends to do that.

back on topic.
I'm against any guns, they'd be useless anyway, but I do vote for a lot of HP.

Ok well if no guns, at least give it shields and some decent speed, to try and get away...

in an interview Blair said something about protecting your colonists. So yeah, it sounds realistic, as they are NON combat ships. (like in BSG)

haha there should be an option to phase jump for the colony ships, but you have no control of where they jump to, sorta like in BSG when they do emergency jumps

If you're not joking (total lack of punctuation/grammar makes it hard to tell) and you're talking about the Master of Orion race, I can direct you to MOO manual PDFs that say otherwise.

He's talking about the planet the developers named after him in game. No joke.
