Wow!

What a difference a few months makes.

I was geeking out over this game back when Ironclad first started employing all of us HW fans to get the word out with an unofficial forum. I realized I was fretting too much over the game and whether it was going to get a publisher so backed off for a while. The look of the game has advanced dramatically and hats off to the artwork.

Just wondering. To what degree has Stardock influenced the development of the game. I like those pretty new textures but has that set the minimum specs up a notch? Can I still play it on my laptop ?!

Anyway, hats off to the IC team. This looks like a great start for an ambitious strategy developer.

Stardock is the publisher, so it will distribute the game as well as give some of their resources in managing the Beta, or at least I think so.

We're handling the marketing, PR, and distribution for the game. Unlike many publishers (who aren't actually paying for the game to be made) we're also providing detailed feedback to Ironclad to make Sins better. Both companies tend to think along the same lines in terms of gameplay, so I'd say it's been beneficial.

As for if it'll play on your laptop - depends on what your laptop is sporting under the hood.

ya hear that EA? here's a good method for making sure you pump out some good games.

I'm pretty sure you can tone down the details, so they look just like those old pics
anyone recall what HW1 ships looked like on a crappy machine? they were essentially boxes.

Oh yes. I spent the better part of my HW career playing with triangles, diamonds, squares, and parallelograms - at 5 fps. Wasn't the most beautiful thing ever but the gameplay more than made up for it.

Soldier # 4.2: Sir, sir we are being attacked by triangles!!

Captain: Those arent triangles, they are ships.

I feel your pain, DOW:DC does the same thing to my comp once in awhile. And dont get me started on EaW.

Our relationship has been very synergistic     Stardock is respectful of our creative freedom, while at the same time provide great suggestions.

this is how I immagine things going on over there.

Pfft, we just chain the IC people to their desks.

That reminds me, Craig - please let Blair know that he's scheduled for a manacle refitting today at 2.

I remember the last time I was chained up... My ankle still hasn't healed...

My boss now resorts to suspending my paycheck just out of reach above me, and as I complete my work it gets a little closer to my grasp.

Stardock should move to the 21st century and get them electronic monitoring collars for the Ironclad staff, its more humane and doesn't leave a mark... And if you shock them enough , they start to get a cool little twitch!

GOOD, make them work faster.
like kosc says, combine chains with electric shocks for even greater effect.

yer but this new age stuff dosent have the same effect, i always believed a good old whip or cat & nine tails was the best solution to any problem (throw enough slaves at a problem and it solves itself).

lol, good too see the devs have a good sense of humour.

You have SD confused with my benevolent Empire, too much time in that detention cell on the Destruction Ball hasnt done much for intelligence....

its more humane and doesn't leave a mark...

That takes the fun out of it

impressive, you caught one of my decoys!
You have SD confused with my benevolent Empire

as if you knew the inner secrets of the stardockon empire.

stardockon empire.

First of I think it would be stardockian, and secondly, why not?
stardockian

no, obviously your intelligence is lacking

its "dock-ON" not "dock-E-an"
secondly, why not

oh pssh. you didn't even pronounce the name right.

Lets actually ask someone from SD.

Plus I think my name sounds better than Stardockon. Come on, its like something out of Star Trek.
no, it sounds like "Ottoman Empire" which is way cooler.
'an' and 'on' make different sounds. But, I guess its based on opinion. I based mine of the fact that in Gal Civ II there is an empire named The Stardockian Empire(with the fitting motto of "We are watching you".
its pronounced [ot-uh-muhn] (taken directly from definitions . com)

so [star-duh-kuhn] empire.
Yes, one subtle differance. Ottoman has an 'an', Stardockon, has an 'on'. So it is simple to conclude that 'on' cant make the sound 'uhn'.

So it is simple to conclude that 'on' cant make the sound 'uhn'.

and why would that be? 'uhn' is far closer to 'on' than 'an'
its all about the way you prenounce it, spelling is just a general, not absolute constraint.
Because, Schem Ottoman is pronounced ot-uh-muhn. Ottomon would be compeletly different.
see, you're not even right.
by your logic, because "an" is pronounced "an" we should pronounce "ot-uh-muhn" as "ought-o-man"
is that right?
no...
Um, where are you getting this. "an" in Ottoman is prounced "uhn". While Stardockon, the "on" would not make an "uhn" sound. Thats logic "an" and "on" cant possibly make the same sound.

So if you want it to sound like the Ottoman Empire, you should change the "on" in Stardockon, to an "an".
