FAQ: Download Problems!

I had a problem downloading GalCiv. I downloaded Stardock Central first. I clicked on the Drengin.net tab, and entered my serial number. I then hit F5 to refresh, and it told me that my serial number was invalid. I right-clicked to go to register products, and went into the list box and selected GalCiv and re-entered my serial number then hit F5. It gave me the same error message. I finally went into the register products screen and deleted the serial number from the drengin.net subscription, that removed the error message and let me proceed. The drop down list-box that changes items on the screen is not intuitive, and should be relaced by tabs. Until then, you may want to either allow checking to proceed when a failure is hit while logging in, or swap the order of the two items on that screen.

I did, but still get the CTD when trying to Chat.

I'm deleting and reinstalling everything. ll I can see is I configured the game to install on my D drive, but the error message says my C: is the install path...don't get that one.

Also, just to make sure, under the tools menu do a "Refresh Application Data".

Where do I get my serial number...? I pre-ordered and got the beta some time ago.......

Two other things to try:

(1) Refresh Application Data to make sure it has the latest info.
and
(2) Just try redownloading. There is always the possibility that it just timed out for some reason. Network hicup or something. It will resume where you last were.

In SDCentral: Tools->Lookup serial #.

Or you can go to the support tab in SDCentral, enter in the email address you used when you purchased and it will email it to you.

Cancel that......figured it out.

I reinstalle Stardock to my C: drive. Now it is downloading. There appears to be a problem with Stardock installing to the D drive. Like I said, I set my install paths to D:\ whatever...but the erro message shows that Stardock did not see it and left it at C:. Really wanted it on the D: drive but I'll take it! Gonna take awhile though (:(

Hmm, shouldn't be a problem, I have it installed to my g:\games directory.

Not the most intuitive.....but a pretty cool looking app (stardock central). Download in progress.

GREAT...Chat caused an IE error, everything closed down AND the install DID NOT pick up where it left off...this has NOT been my night..and of course the download rate is 1/4 of what it was crusing at! 50megs down the drain....oh well...

My Email address has changed since original purchase of Drengin. I cannot logon to SDC using the serial# that I have been using for months on drengin without a problem.Please advise.

Is there anyway to download on one machine (at work, where the internet is fast), burn a cd, and install at home (where my connection can't keep up with Grandma)? I thought of doing the 'download and archive' option, then copy the files. Will this work?

Robert: That one is beyond my knowledge. Email [email protected] and ask them what you should do.

3hatted: Yes, that should work.

Just be careful where it goes. Every copy of GalCiv that is downloaded gets stamped somewhere in the files. So be careful not to let anyone get ahold of it.

Having problems with SDC.
Get login to stardock failures.
Repeated clicks of Yes to relogon on from edit stardock account page I eventually manage to login.
Trying to connect to chat I get unresolved address for irc.stardock.com
Repeated connects eventually get me on
After being in Chat for a short time SDC crashes

Download Speeds Slow? Read Below:

Ok, a second server is ready for GalCciv in Stardock Central. You maybe need to either restart SDCentral or do a Refresh Application data in order to see it. Go to Tools->Settings. And in the settings dialog go to the Connection Tab. US - California is the new server and should be less congested.

At this time, only GalCiv is on this server. Other stardock apps are in the process of being copied to this server.
