Yep, They're Gay...

Aw come on!!!

This wasn't in my line up of articles to post today but I just couldn't believe this when I read it! It earned my "Aw come on...!!!!" rating of stupidity!

These two gorgeous looking rams are at the root of the latest controversy.

In a time.com magazine article written by John Cloud he said that scientists have recently discovered "that male sheep exhibit homosexuality at least as often as humans: roughly 8% of rams turn out to have sex exclusively with other rams." (of the same sex.)

You've got to be kidding me?! Yep! Zoologists knew this little tidbit of information a long time ago, that some animals had a tendency to be this way!

Hey Zoo, did you know that?! Yes, I know you're not officially a Zoologist yet, but you know so much about the creatures in your future profession so I just thought I would ask!

The only reason we (the public) are hearing about this is because PETA launched a campaign on behalf of gay sheep. They claim the researchers were killing gay sheep, cutting open their brains so as to learn how to turn the rams who are gay, straight!

The research is said to offer pregnant women a treatment to reduce or eliminate the chance that their new born will be homosexual.

I have no comment on that one! None that couldn't be written here in a calm and serene manner that is! Talk about your most insane ideas... to date, this is one of them!

But not to worry, we can calm down on that score.
The Psysiologist leading the research, Charles Roselli of Oregon Health & Science University, said they have killed both homosexual and heterosexual sheep so as to study the basis of their sexual attraction and can confirm that a sheep is gay because they allow them to pick their choice from a group of male or female sheep that have been restraint and awaiting sexual intercourse.

They however, had no intention of creating a drug that will turn the sheep or people straight.

Whew! Well thank heavens for that! It's bad enough that there are designer babies when it comes to the look or sex of a newborn, but now their sexual orientation would be messed with too...that's just wrong! I know there are some people out their who would jump at the chance of taking a treatment like that though and that's just sad!

Of course, there's a dark side to this.

It could be argued that homosexuality is simply a birth defect that, one day, can be treated.

Actually, they think they have identified the gene. And the Gay community is very scared.

I'd rather they find the gene that causes my obesity and cure that crap.

I wonder if their time wouldn't be better spent trying to cure something like stupidity which is a far worse social problem than a few guys buggering each other.

Yeah...I've heard of it. There have been documented cases of bonobos(kinda look like chimpanzees) that have lesbian sex and some other animals that are either gay or bisexual. However...they never seem to hold parades or bitch to all the other animals about it.

I don't think I recall gay sheep, though...to my knowledge, domestic sheep are rather stupid. They can't even live in the wild if they escape...so maybe they're just randy rams and take whatever comes.

I would like to see the the actual research paper on this, though, before I make any clear judgements. The author of this article says he's gay on page 2...so there might be some bias in his writing.

Wouldn't that be something! I guess intimidation is the word here. They have a right to feel threatened though!

Actually Marcie, I heard or read a report where they did find something, the root of the cause for obesity. I have to go hunting for it when I have time.

Thar you go - good response!!

Hey, if you put some men into a cage together, they end up taking to each other, despite declaring they're hetero. Maybe sheep are the same. Or, as Zoo said, maybe they're so dumb they'll take to anything when they're randy.

Oh, they're extremely stupid...I had a young ram kill itself(broken neck) by jumping around on a pile of wood that we were using to build a barn. Also, we borrowed a ram to help sire some lambs and all it did was try and headbutt people when they were in the pasture...big ol' bastard, too. My dad had a salt lick block and used it as a shield when it kept on charging. Also, if they ever escape into the real world...they can't figure out how to live on their own without human intervention.

As Stephen Colbert said on his show from yesterday, "The Shepards don't provide very good role models for young impressionable lambs.(With a picture of Brokeback Mountain on the screen)"

How is it sheep are as dumb as a box of frogs yet goats are canny beasts with a knack for escapology? I mean, they're cousins or something, aren't they? Maybe sheep are the inbred hillybilly cousins of goats
