Is Vista Home basic worth upgrading?

Hello everybody!
I haven't posted in a long while, but i still come around and read regularely.

Anyway, about the reason of my post. I bought my laptop last year, and could only affort a very basic laptop with an integrated chipset, no real videocard. Therefore, as far as Vista is concerned, I could only run the Home Basic version. So, is it worth the upgrade? Or should I stick with XP until I buy a new computer in 2 or 3 years?

From what I've read so far, the upgrade doesn't seem worth it. What's your opinion on this?

Hi paxx, good to see you around

You won't get any aero effects with your card, but you'll probably be using WB anyway. Vista does have other features, but, if XP aint broke...   It all comes down to why you want Vista, or, which of Vista's features do you really need that XP doesn't have.

I don't think there's much point in spending $xxx if you aren't going to get any real benefit. Better to put the money towards a new, more capable laptop with Vista pre-installed.

Hi, Patric....

Many claim Vista is just 'bling' but it's more than just a GUI....like XP was/is more than just a GUI re Win98.

If you can't see a burning urge to update, cos XP is treating you will....then wait.  By then Vista will only be better...bugs ironed, etc.

No-one likes crinkly bugs, anyway...

Thanks for your answers.

I'll stick to XP until my next PC in a couple of years.  Took me about that long to upgrade from 98 to XP anyway.

And hello Paul!
