If It Weren't For Bad Luck...

I'd have no luck at all

This morning I grabbed a cup of coffee and as is my normal routine I did a quick walk around of my truck checking the tires, brakes, and lights. Everything was good so I filled out my log book and started down the road.

About 30 miles later I entered the OR weigh station. They pulled me around for an inspection. As I had just checked everything a half an hour earlier, was running legal, and my log was current, I wasn't worried.

I should have been.

It seems that somewhere in that 30 miles between the truck stop and the weigh station I picked up a rather large nail in one of my drive tires. It was about as flat as a tire can get. Damn!

The DOT officer was a really nice guy but he had no choice but to place me out of service until the tire is repaired. So now I am sitting here with a big orange Out of Service placard on my windshield waiting for the road service truck to arrive from the same truck stop that I had just left.

If I ever catch up to Murphy I'm going to strangle the bastard.

You'll have to wait in line.

Hopefully you will be back on the road shortly.

No doubt!

Thanks, I just got the confirmation call back but they said it would probably be about an hour or so before they get here. I should have eaten breakfast before starting out this morning.

It seems I'm not the only one Murphy picks on... good luck..

No, he really gets around

The tire man finally showed up and patched the affected tire. Only took him about 2.5 hours to show.

My boss was pretty ticked off over the fact that they put me out of service over a stupid nail in a tire. He's going to fight it. An out of service is a major thing and hurts the company's overall safety rating. I hope he gets it removed.

I'm now once again on my way but way behind schedule. If I'm lucky I can still deliver on Monday, it'll just be afternoon instead of morning. If not, there's always Tuesday morning.

Bad Luck is a bad thing but there's something worse than that -worse luck. But then when you're stuck on the side of the road that's a small consolation isn't it?

Hmmm, I wonder if worse luck is worse than bad luck, or is bad luck really worse luck or just bad?
