why preorder

Is the list price of DA going to be $29.95 once it is released? If so why would you preorder?

I have seen some talk about being able to download the beta but it looks like you cant do that anymore.

...oh yeah...is the website going to reflect the new release data or is it going stay at last year?

Well the beta download was only stopped yesterday.

I pre-ordered back in September mainly to show support, and because I liked the idea of Stardock getting all the money rather than giving most of the profit to some retailer.

Where is it wrong? The pages I checked say February 2007 as they should.

Because I prefer to get my product direct from the creators rather than pay a store's overhead on it.

And to be able to play the beta and give input to devs who actually listen.

On the top right under the More Details & ESRB Rating section it says Release Date: 4th Quarter 2006.

Stopped yesterday or a month ago is the same to me today. Especially since the download still appears in StarDockCentral, it just wont install.

Regarding the pre-order...the beta feature was cool (although I didnt get to take advantage). That is not often done with a pre-order. What I usually see is a small discount for pre-ordering or a bonus of some sort.

The thing about beta versions is that while it is a benefit to start playing early you are also providing a service to the company since you are proving testing feedback for them. End user testing is a low cost, valuable asset to any software developement...

I do agree with people's attitudes towards Stardock...good company and good games.

Thank you all for your replies.
