Aussie's Rule JoeUser!!!

Aussie's Rule JoeUser!!!

dont worry - it's not unilateral authority!

This is just a big shout out to all the Australian’s here at JoeUser – I think you will find there are a few of us, and generally we are well liked and somewhat respected members of our little community, not unlike our country on the International scale!!! Hehe…

First of all let me shout out to Mignuna – She hails from a much warmer part of Australia than me, and she has one of the most genuine and loving personalities I have ever encountered online. Her and I are definitely kindred spirits, and we see eye to eye on many an occasion. Whenever I post a comment or article which hints at me needing advice, she always knows what to say – All you foreign guys, if you were ever interested in an Australian chick, Mig is the down to earth wholesome beauty you have always dreamed of!!! Too bad she is married huh?

Next is my good friend Mack. Mack lives in Australia’s premier city Sydney – I only say premier for the internationals sake… Sydney will never have anything on Melbourne ;) He is also someone who I consider a kindred spirit – yeah, he may *claim* to be polish, but he is as Aussie as a snag on the BBQ with a beer in hand. I get along famously with Macky, and I have a lot of respect for him, we are so different in so many ways, yet he understands exactly where I am coming from, and I would like to think I know what he is about as well.

Followed by the glorious Teegster! I don’t know Teegan as well as I know the former, but it certainly is reassuring to see her blogs about Australian popular culture and local figures, I don’t know, it’s not that I am home sick around here, It does feel good to see something I recognise instantly though, rather than something on Northern American pop culture in which I have no idea. Teegs is a real bubbly and friendly personality, and it is my observation that she is well liked among the JU community. She lives in Brisbane – Australia’s third largest city, I bet she is experiencing some sun right now while it is raining here in Melbourne!

Theophilus Thistler is a dude who I don’t know so well, also from Queensland, although lately I have seen his head bop up a bit more frequently. He loves the same music as me, and as he quipped, we do relate quite well on most issues, check his stuff out if you get the time!

Wreckless Eric is a newer addition to the site… He is a really funny guy! He grew up not far from where I used to live, and we have this shopping centre near by where all the hoodlums hang out – It was called Westfield Shoppingtown, and those that live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne all know this. I have affectionately termed him as a ‘Shoppo Thug’ when you need some gangster’s help – call 1800–SHOPPO! He saw the light (literally) and moved north. It’s my understanding he works in a hostel, It shows in his friendly personality

The newest edition to our elite team is Gothic Impulse, I can’t really comment too much on her yet, I just know she seems to have a kind soul, and I look forward to her input on various events and antics! I am 100% certain she is a champion, because she calls Australia home…

I don’t think I have left anyone out… I wonder how many frequent bloggers their actually are here at JU? Our little community is growing day by day, and reading over the names above, I am re-affirmed in my belief that Australian’s are the best!

As an Australian, I must thank JU to opening my eyes to the broad international community. I was never an ignorant person, I pride myself on my ability to learn and adapt, however – learning about international events and concepts from average Joe’s and Jill’s from across the world has really broadened my horizons, and helped me better understand world events.

Before November last year I was firm in my belief that ALL Americans were closed minded power hungry fools… some people here did re-affirm that belief, but I generally realised that not all Americans were this way, and the ones that are this way, I better understand where they are coming from...

I hope myself and the other Australians here are accepted within the community, and I am honest when I say, sometimes it’s a bit tough to follow what’s going on when it doesn’t directly relate to us. I am sure I am not speaking for myself here when I say I do enjoy this site immensely, and the international community is very appealing.

I hope you all acknowledge that all Australians are cool because, well… we all are :)

This is just step one in Australia’s plan for world domination… I hope you all realise this :)

A lot of people have told me i would enjoy that movie.. I must endeavour to obtain a copy!

Muggaz~haven't seen the flick either. But now I will make it a point. Sounds totally cool. Just like this really cool blog of yours. I wanted to ask you this? When I was a wee tender lad of 10 or 11 y/o.... there was a very pretty soft-spoken pop singer by the name of Olivia Newton-John. She was enormously popular here in the states for many years. Went on to star in Grease with John Travolta. I keep think she was born and raised in Australia? Do you know? Really cool blog dude! Glad to know you, and all the other Aussies from your cool homeland.

Madpoet...

She certainly was born in Sydney!!! she is one of Australia's most famous exports!!! a really talented singer who has come back from breast cancer! you remember xanadu? my sisters used to watch them all the time, and run around the house singing the songs - I was subjected to some shocking renditions of 'summer loving' from Grease all the time!

P.S. Did you take a peek at my blog all about bloggers and blogging? (Try saying that 10 times really fast! .)

Yeah dude.. I took a peek...

I didn't really have anything of value to add though - It has all been said before... I am just paying close attention to exaclty what the powers that be say though, as JU is important to me!!!

I am wondering, Olivier Newton John is old school Australian - do you know any others? The International perception of Australia has always interested me immensely!

There's a blog topic for you Muggaz...

"What are your perceptions of Australia, having not been there?"

Think you'd get some interesting answers there..

G'day Muggaz!!!

I'm here on JoeUser too: fangface.joeuser.com. I'm an Aussie (from Wollongong/Sydney) living in Seattle, WA now. It's great to see so many Aussies here.

We should set a time, break out the Tim Tams and a couple of cold VBs and all of us shout out together.

Of course, "Aussie, Aussie Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi" is a standard.

well done, muggaz !. i had no idea we had so many of "us" on here.

my hubby recently taught my sisters' small daughter to say "aussie, aussie, aussie, oi , oi ,oi". (she was born in germany and still lives there. they were here visiting).

my sister was mortified, but i found it almost unbearably cute.

welcome, compadres. do drop by anytime ... and (as joel so kindly offers) have a tim-tam or two

mig.

Errmm...excuse me for butting in, but what are Tim Tams?
Tim Tams are a slice of heaven. They are chocolate biscuits with chocolate cream in the centre COATED in chocolate. They now come in a variety of flavours.
I have been sending them to friends all around the world and I'm glad to say I have created quite a few addicts.
Part of the world domination plan.

original, caramel, tia maria, dark chocolate, double chocolate, maybe more ....bite the ends off and suck your coffee through them. mmmm mmmm mmmmmm

Wow! That's a lot of chocolate...the Tia Maria ones sound awfully good though....

ohhhh, dharma, you have no idea what you're missing.

i love the new "double-coat" tim-tams (yes, they have twice the chocolate coating on them).

there's not an aussie woman alive that hasn't eaten her own bodyweight in tim-tams at least once as "therapy" for relationship woes. .

I had a thought the other day - it was pretty random and would never happen by its very definition but I was thinking about football (AFL) and how cool it would be to have another country to play against so we could get alot of the best players from all the teams into one Autralian side....---Of course you could just have all the Lions in that team and you'd HAVE the best but yeah.

I think I Love YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is my most favouritiest movie in the whole widest world - i know it backwards as well as forwards!!! Ask teegs (until a year ago she'd never seen it - her poor deprived childhood)
oh oops - that was supposed to quote imajinit's thingie about princess bride and australia - sorry
Reply #46 Top
hahaha.... The Lions you say? you got done in by the goal umpire the other night...

you another Brisbane girl huh Trina? what movie are you talking about? and who do you love?

hehe

BAM!!!
damn, i thought you loved me.. but its only MJ

hehehe... I guess i will have to watch this movie!

That's so weird - I described tim-tams exactly that way kinda in a blog about having a bad day last week - gotta love tim-tams especially as straws.
but the tia maria ones are not as nice - and the double coated are too hard to bite off and suck coffee through.

As for the Aussie/Yank thing - I'd also be interested in hearing your perceptions. I once had someone ask me if I had a pet kangaroo.

And O-NJ - she's been in remission for about 10years now, her daughter is bringing out her own CD sometime this year.

Other famous exports besides Nicole (though technically she's American - born in Hawaii, Heath, Naomi (born in UK) and Hugh

Frances O'Connor - she was in the Importance of being Earnest
David Wenham - Lord of the Rings
Richard Roxborough a SCORE of movies including Moulin Rouge

we can also claim Melissa George of Alias, Jonathon LaPaglia and Anthony LaPaglia of Without a Trace and his co-star Poppy Montgomery, Portia deRosi was Amanda Rodgers when she was an Aussie, oh Simon Baker (simon baker-denny of home&away/estreet fame)

Actually it's a hobby of mine - watch American/British television and spot the Australian.

I know we were SO jipped!!!

As a Melbournite who do you support Mugz? I'm a devoted Lions fan - Nick also likes the Pies (his best friend is a devoted Collingwood supporter meanwhile bottom of the ladder!)

Definitely rent PB!! (I own it on video and 3 disc movie cd - I really should get it on DVD hmmm birthday coming up....)

Oh and Brisbane YES - infact I'm one of Teegstar's best friends and if you read Wayne's blog about the best party crowd etc it was my house in Indooroopilly he was at (and my husbands)

Oh my god bro...

Its like this whole little crew you have up in Brisbane there!!!

I go for Melbourne Demons!!! we are gonna win the flag this year! My mum goes for Saint Kilda though, and she loved the goal umpire the other night!

I might check PB out tomoz... I am gonna have a sicky...
