I searched tomb raider and saw that they are releasing something in 2007 - I thought they stopped making the tomb raider game?

I suppose PC games could be dead. It seems that when ever 1 good is released, 10 flawed carbon copies show up soon afterwards.

I haven't searched through the entire list of games yet, but there is one game that I'm interested in. Its is called Spore.

Looks like some damn fine games in there to me. I don't see consoles any less plagued by genre titles, even more so, frankly. I still play PC titles from the late 90's, and the ones that can be modded are even more so. If anything the lack of innovation in such lists just shows that these game review sites don't bother to go out and find much.

I don't even have to pay for the mods, either. There are console games that stand that test of time, but the consoles themselves rarely do. My N64 died a few days ago, so I'll either buy a new one, or the games I have on the shelf are dead to me.

PCs offer emulation, modding, unfettered networks play not reliant on the devs ongoing monetary interest, etc. You can still go and play MUDs for heaven's sake. I don't think PC games are dead, they are even more valid as every year their libraries of games expand, while old consoles fall by the wayside.

Not to mention, while you still need an original disc to play copy protected games (err, unless you....never mind...not advocating illegal activities here...lol!), you can back your computer games up for the most part on your PC. You can also, with a little knowledge, customize the soundtracks. You can simply do more with PC games than console games.

Console games have just lost their appeal to me, honestly.

I agree. I'm waiting to see if Sony figures out what to do with the PS3, but, honestly, I'm not going to buy another First Person Shooter from anyone. I'm looking forward to the next Gran Turismo and the next Grand Theft Auto, but is that a reason to spend $500+ on a new console? Desktops are cheaper than that now. As the console developers rush to build a machine that can play online games I have to wonder if PCs will win because they are already online. IMHO I think that eventually we will have one machine for entertainment needs, and the PC is way ahead in that race.

I've pretty much always been a deck game spectator--haven't bought anything since my sister and I saved our allowances for most of a year to buy that Atari thing that took cartridges and barely outclassed Pong.

IIRC the only things I've been talked into playing a bit have involved a fishing-pole controller, a gun-shaped controller, and Worms. Decks are a neat way to see what real games might look like in a while, but that that crowd tends to call a strategy game seems like a barely adequate tactical game to me
