Mother: 35 Days later

It's been over 30 days since my mother had her brain aneurysm. Apparently if one can survive 30 days, then they are no longer in danger. Of course we all know that's a bit of a fallacy - we're all in danger all the time, but it would seem that if you can go 30 days without having the aneurysm...re-...what? Reburst? (Sorry if that's graphic) then you simply won't have another one.

So she's had all of the various tubes and drains and shunts and needles removed, and even the tracheotomy is gone at this point. She can speak and is even moving her right side somewhat. She still floats in and out of alertness, but that is to be expected at this point.

Recently she was moved to a Long Term Acute Care facility, but they are going to move her again as she no longer needs "acute" care. Yay! So her recovery proceeds apace. The question that is left for me now is...what will I get my parents for Christmas? I think some kitchen utensils just don't hold a candle to the gift of life. ;)

What a scary ordeal to go through with your mom.  I'm so relieved to hear her progress!  Thank goodness you have the opportunity to worry about what to get her for Christmas.
