Themes not Installing

Hiya,

I have been trying to get some new suites from the Wincustomize website for a few weeks or more, and even though it shows that they are downloading, and the name itself will temporarily show up in the Theme Manager suite section as if it loaded in there and installed, there is no theme there to apply. Nothing shows up in the box that usually shows the stuff it downloaded such as wallpaper, icons etc. for the suite except the picture showing the full theme graphic but the main box is empty. Eventually this selection (the name in the theme manager selection area) will not be there, refreshing or restarting or it just disappears when you change something else as if it never really downloaded.
One other thing too, even though I delete it, if I try to download it again it doesn't download it, it acts as though it's still there and then the name just shows up again in the theme manager box.

Today I tried again... failed. I tried to download a few of the newer ones on the site, same problem, but.... then I decided lets try an older one and so I tried the Christmas Time suite...
At first it wouldn't install at all same as the others but then it did install, showed up but... it was all the CopperDeck II components listed not the ChristmasTime?

I'm pretty confused here as to what is wrong lol, I've tried deleting them out then reinstalling them but no luck. Today I downloaded the pieces of the ChristmasTime components and basically put the theme together manually and created the suite, but... that's alotta work when it should be doing it itself hehe.

Please advise as I'd sure like to get some new themes for my money

Please provide the version of TM that you are using.
How are you downloading? Web? WC Browser, SDC?

downloading via the website for wincustomize. Version is the most recent version... (goes to load it to check number lol)... 2.30a.042

I didn't have this problem up until around a month or so ago, I used to use the download buttons on the wincustomize site to add new suites and they would just automatically be added into my theme manager setup. Not sure what happened or changed that this isn't working now.

Win XP Pro (updated fully on a regular basis and as of yesterday).

MS IE 7 browser

Hmm can't think of anything else that would be pertinent so if you do just ask.

how long you been using IE7?

hmm longer than I've had this problem.. I think.. dunno how I would test to see if that's the problem or not other than to try maybe firefox which I can install. Not sure how I would go about putting IE 6 back on since 7 is now the default in Windows Update even.

If you go to the galleries and do separate downloads, do they download correctly?

Is IE7 recognizing .suite as to be opened with Theme Manager?

If you use SDC to download, does it work?

As I said I was able to download the components separately and manually piece the theme suite ChristmasTime together and am using it now. So yes I can download things separate.

**Bug just found in SDC Discussion setup, enter key wouldn't function when trying to post my reply for this via the software**

IE 7 recognizes the theme mgr for the .suite because it's opening it and putting the suite's name into the list and showing the picture, just that the files it is downloading aren't there (and I'm assuming it's actually downloading because I can see the download bar working as it downloads the files).

Screen shot of what it looks like when I try to download them:

This problem persists using either IE7 or SDC Web Browser. In fact if I use SDC Web Browser I can't even get to the box that shows the files such as the little bottom box in the screen shot, it locks up the minute I try to redownload the suite.

Not sure if this matters but I'll mention it anyways. When I first press the download link for a suite it opens the theme mgr but it doesn't add the theme to my list unless I press the link again to download it. Then it adds it to the list but is like the screen shot shows, empty. Sometimes it doesn't seem like it's actually downloading anything as the download box opens but nothing happens it just closes again pretty fast so not sure they all download. Some definitely do though.

**Another note: If I try to download it a 2nd time via IE7 it doesn't lock up, only locks up if I use SDC browser.** Other than that they do the same thing.

Should I install Firefox and try it that way? Or do you think between these 2 browsers it's saying it's not the browser?

Replying to my post here again lol, wasn't sure if I should add on to the last one or what but this may be cleaner.

I went ahead and installed Firefox and guess what? Works like a charm!

I was obviously not getting the downloads at all before as this time it opened a new page to click a download link on and allowed me to download it both via saving it or loading it with theme manager. Didn't get this page before at all. My guess is that the browser being used by SDC is based off IE? That is probably why I didn't have trouble before with it, I was using firefox for a few years and just formated my puter a few months ago and didn't reinstall it. Didn't connect it to IE because I wasn't using version 7 at first and I wasn't installing these either so I guess I was wrong when I thought I had problems before IE 7.

Doesn't fix the issue that it's not working for me with IE 7 though but at least it looks like I'll be able to finally download them via Firefox.

Thanks all for your persistence and help. Hopefully something will come of this to fix the issues, I am assuming I'm not the only one having this problem, but never know I guess lol.

lol ... I was gonna suggest FF depending on your reply.

I was guessing because IE had issues with downloads here before.

I think (don't quote me) the SDC uses IE unless you have another set as the default browser. I know there's an option in SDC setting about links and defaults (not at home, can't check).

I'm not sure if it's strictly and IE7 issue. Had trouble with downloads using TM a few builds back and got used to downloading via Leechget then appying with TM, so hadn't tried it in a while.

Not sure if this matters but I'll mention it anyways. When I first press the download link for a suite it opens the theme mgr

I don't recall ever seeing that. Gonna have to try some scenarios later this weekend to see if I get any errors.

In fact if I use SDC Web Browser I can't even get to the box that shows the files such as the little bottom box in the screen shot, it locks up the minute I try to redownload the suite.

try downloading and installing SDC over itself... it's a long shot but works to clear up things like missing ODZip.dll..... maybe it'll help...

Anyway for now, glad you can at least get them downloaded
