Proudly unAustralian about cricket

The Ashes bore me to tears

I guess everyone in the US is asleep at their extended families' houses dreaming of turkey right about now. Pity me - working in a media hub where the giant TV screens are all tuned to the CRICKET. And it's not just the prospect of five more days of mind-numbing boredom - it's the fact that all the ads on TV are about cricket - there are behuind-the-team specials about cricket - interviews with fans, old players - oh, it just goes ON AND ON AND ON....

If you want to know anything about this silly game and why it's called the Ashes... try here Link

I'm going to try and do some work now, but even Sydney's bushfires take a back seat to the Ashes. (Geddit?)

Except me! I'm still up doing a little writing and surfing around. Heh, I could write a blog entitled "Proudly UnAmerican about Football!" I have no interest in sports in the slightest -almost as much as my lack of interest in politics.

Oh well ~yawn~ I am beginning to get...sleepy................................................. zzzzzzz

Groan...

Yep, folks, how damned unpatriotic and, dare I say it, unAustralian of my better half... Of course, she has my full sympathy and support. Summer in Australia means cricket, cricket and more cricket. This summer is going to be even more cricket-orientated with the introduction of televised beach cricket, for gawd's sake!

The only way to watch cricket is drunk. Drunk and with a meat pie in one hand. Preferably whilst sitting outside and 'watching' it on the TV inside whilst enjoying the sun with mates.

I guess it is a testosterone thing.

Really, I have only the slightest concept of the game. I've never actually seen it played in real life, and it's rarely televised up here, unless you subscribe to some sports network.

I'm not a big sports fan though, so it's not like I hunt around to see what's new in that arena of the world.

I dig watching men's gymnastics though. Talk about muscles, agility, and self-control.

I like watching woman's beach volleyball for the same reason. No, really, I do...

Cactoblasta - I might try it that way and see if it grows on me.

Nicky - I'm with you. Though dynamaso knows I'll join him watching the girls too!

haha, I'm just seeing this, I was too busy preparing for the 'big day'! But I can understand your feelings and as an islander who knew all about cricket (back in the day), I totally understand. It's been a while and I truly don't watch it anymore, I think I'm more unpatriotic than you right about now!!
