Thanksgiving for my family is the beginning of a sprint that goes until Christmas.

Cooking, cleaning, visiting, then Thanksgiving. The next day is black Friday, biggest shopping day of the year (though I don't usually partake,can't stand crowds). Then decor changes to prepare for Christmas, church activities, baking, shopping, wrapping, more visits.

The climax is Christmas morning. Unwrap the gifts, small family meal, then start thinking about getting everything down and put away. About the second week in Jan we sit back and BREATHE.

Happy Thanksgiving, Maso! We have a Texas Thanksgiving at my house and that means Roast or beef brisket and NO turkey! People who do serve turkey here deep fry them in peanut oil which makes them VERY tender and juicy.

But the best thing for me is FOUR DAYS OFF! (But I'm ALWAYS on call 24-7 which sucks but I happen to have a fantastic boss who trades out with me when we, you know, "get sick" on Saturday nights hehehe).
Anyway, yes, I feel I have much to be thankful for and I kick myself in the ass alot for not focusing more on the positive! But anyway, again...HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

We regularly have turkey. We can buy them here packaged as turkey-thigh chops. They're great on a BBQ or under a grill. Hope you have a great day, mate.

I used to get confused too but with an American sister-in-law, I no longer have this problem. Have a good day anyway. There is never a wrong time to give thanks for one's blessings, in my books.

I hope you enjoy your four days off, mate. Seems to me like we all enjoy the extras when we get them but these days never last long enough, do they? Weekends seem to flash by these days. I can remember when a weekend went for ages and holidays seemed to go on forever. Humph, I must be getting old, damn it all.

Anyway, my friend, have a wonderful day with the family. I assume your eldest will be back from college for the celebrations? I hope you all have a relaxing time off. And have a cold one (or two or three) for me.

Happy non-Thanksgiving to you, too. I'm in the minority, where tomorrow is just another day, and I won't be getting paid double time for working it. However, we Canadians celebrated our Thanksgiving Day last month. These Americans are late, late, late!

I don't see the problem, just another excuse to throw a party. I just might add Canada's Thanksgiving to my holiday celebrations of every year. It is sad that we don't roast a turkey more than once a year. Maybe I will consider doing, at least a half, a turkey more often. MMMMMMMMM.

Happy Thanksgiving to you to, and to everyone else on JU. While it is not a tradition or a holiday for everyone, it is still a great time to remember that no matter who we are, what we believe in or what part of the world we are or we are from, we are all humans and we should all hope that someday we will find a way to get along and enjoy each others cultures and traditions in harmony. It's a long shot, closer to a dream, but there is no wrong in having a little hope.
