Personal?

Curious will personnel on ships be a factor? In a MMORTS NavyField personnel aboard ships is very important.

In HW2 as much people can die as long as you kill the enemy. Meaning half the crew on the ship can die and the ship can still function properly.

Will personnel dying on the ships affact the ship's performance?

hahaha, you mean personnel?

I would hope that theres a game that includes that, but I dunno about this one...

guess I'd be happy w/ whatever the devs put in.

will crew of the ship/pilots gather experience?

Ships do gain experience through combat and experience can be "bought" with training but as far as I know this experience is attributed to the ship and not to the people on it.

as wedge says, thats about as depthy as this topic goes.
sorry guys.

It'd be nice if there were "hero" type personnel that can be assigned to ships; that could be captured or lost, that bring unique bonuses to individual ships/planets/fleets.

I don't like heroes.

Training is something I can live with, not heroes. Nexus had a stab at something like this: if you drop below a cetain percentage of health, people got the hell out of there.

Thus you have a nearly destroyed ship and a bunch of lifepods.

oh god heroes, the mention of it makes me shiver...

I really detest games where you can send in a single innately powerful unit and take out a portion of an opposing army because its supposedly some superhuman "hero"...

it totally ruins SP.

hmm....i do like the sound of lifepods though.....i like to think my people would try to fight till the last moment and save themselves to fight another day.

ive been avoiding it....but this nexus game sounds slightly worth a try out of boredom just to see what it has. it have a demo?

the idea of heroes though for the game i rather dislike. back when i played "star wars: empire at war" and i got heroes...i tended to always keep them with the major fleet and major ground assaults. with the style sins is going in....heroes would just be a pain because on a scale as large as sins...every ship will be important...i wouldnt want to give special treatment to some fleet just because they have a certain guy with them...they have to earn that special treatment which is the way the game is going so far.

Not necessarily. They might be good for the story. Just depends on the companies ability to make a good story.

You obviously havent played RPGs before (i.e. MageKnight: Apocalypse) LOL

Although with Heroes the story usually becomes cliche and corny. However, Hegemonia was pretty good in balancing that. It's a shame that no one played Hege

...
well I was obviously talking about RTSs not RPGs...

Laww: Get it here!

To be warned: that is just a tech demo and not intended as a game demo. So if you don't know how to do anything, it's okay. Nobody else does either.

Dont get defensive shimatic, I was not serious. I was just saying having heroes does necessarily ruins a RTS. Look at Karen Sijet, Captain Raynor, Luke Skywalker, Marcus Cromwell, and Niliea Cortilliari. They are all "heroes" from RTS.

RPGS have like millions LOL, cant have a RPG without heroes LOL

I agree. This is (IMO) the same problem as with superweapons. Heavy weaponry is ok while star killers or similar can take the fun out of the game.

I thought this game was canceled/indefinately suspended?

That was a main problem in star wars. Most games that have "super" heros are way to linear and to "john wayne" style it's one kill all and that makes it so boring

If you bothered to click the link you would find it's the originial Nexus demo.

The originial demo was intended to show off the graphics in addition to a little interaction.

I clicked, heard "demo", saw "Nexus" thought...
"he wouldnt be giving a link for the old nexus, so it must be the new one, but how did that get here"

its called reasoning, yeah, I'm one of a very few who tend to do that sort of thing

haha....im used to stumbling around blind in demo's so no worries XD

well i did the single player demo already and it took me a few to figure some things out but i still have questions on some parts..would it be possible for you to fire up the multi demo sometime and show me how to do more? its layout is rather different from what im used to

I think they stopped support for the multiplayer demo. That's why I bought it. But no. . ! Multiplayer died out half a year ago, so no one's on.

I mean if you like it you could buy it for the SP, but you'd have to worship it.

wait, did they cut off support for multiplayer? or just for the multiplayer *demo*
Reply #23 Top
just for the demo..it doesnt connect to their server database anymore
Reply #24 Top
ah good, because I'm thinking about buying the game
Reply #25 Top
There's no multiplayer support either. No one plays on the server.
