Music Review: S Club 7 "Bring It All Back"

Bring It All Back
Album: S Club
Year: 1999

S Club 7 encourage people to try their best in the perky “Bring It All Back.”

In the first chorus, they say to keep going and to tune out those who cut them down. They tell people to rise above the politics and compete for the promotion. They should let their boss know of their accomplishments and sell themselves as the hard-working, valuable employee they are.
“Bring it all back now/Don't stop, never give up/Hold your head high and reach the top/Let the world see what you have go/Bring it all back to you.”

In the first verse, Jo O’Meara says they shouldn’t get caught up in group-think and not be like everybody else. They should be proud of their quirks and traits. She says when people feel overwhelmed, they need to joke and see the bright side of the situation. Insults should be insults and left ignored. They need to remember to be to true to themselves.
“Hold on to what you try to be/Your individuality/When the world is on your shoulders/Just smile and let it go/If people try to put you down/Just walk on by don't turn around/You only have to answer to yourself.”

In the pre-chorus, they say life isn’t meant to be a cakewalk. Problems and troubles will always exist. However, it will look up eventually and people must remain ambitious throughout.
“Don't you know it's true what they say/That life, it ain't easy/But your time's coming around/So don't you stop tryin'.”

In the second chorus, they add they can pursue a relationship or travel to a foreign city if they put their mind to it. Everything is possible. They can’t sacrifice their dreams in the face of hardship. The group then “na na na’s,”
“Don't stop, never give up/Hold your head high and reach the top/Let the world see what you have got/Bring it all back to you/Dream of falling in love/Anything you've been thinking of/When the world seems to get too tough/Bring it all back to you/Na na na na.”

In the second verse, they say to be laid-back and take pleasure in stimulating conversations with friends, tasting well-made food, and seeing the sunset. They say to suppress their fears and let their desire be known. They need to visualize the dream happening and it will help it to come true. They say it’s only them who can create the path to their dream. Time slows down and it can be an aid.
“Try not to worry 'bout a thing/Enjoy the good times life can bring/Keep it all inside you/Gotta let the feeling show/Imagination is the key/'Cause you are you're own destiny/You never should be lonely/When time is on your side.”

In the second pre-chorus, they say adversity will make them stronger and they will be in the spotlight sooner or later.
“Don't you know it's true what they say/Things are sent to try you/But your time's coming around/So don't you stop tryin'.”

The second chorus is sung again.

In the third pre-chorus, they say certain problems are meant to happen. It will make sense later.
“Don't you know it's true what they say/Things happen for a reason/But your time's coming around/So don't you stop tryin'.”
The chorus is sung twice again to close the single.

S Club 7 believes in positive thinking and hands out platitudes like candy. It is basic advice – follow your dreams, don’t sweat the small stuff, ignore the naysayers, etc. While it’s easy to say, it’s tougher to maintain the attitude. It’s a musical motivational speech that offers empty insipiration and solves nothing.

Their breezy, nonchalant vocals are condescending and affected. They assume their clichés will work for everyone and if not, well, they didn’t believe in it enough.

The childish arrangement sprouts rainbows and lollipops in the land of neverending happiness. It’s incredibly joyful that it’s repressed and deluded, avoiding any dark clouds ahead.

The contrived “Bring It All Back” wears a plastic smile.

Hey this song is awesome and it does lift your self-esteem. I for one should know. So I don't like the last comments saying that it doesn't mean anything.
