Nicole Scherzinger and Timbaland bicker over mixed signals in the touchy “Wait A Minute.”

Animated synths and drum machines open the single, setting a minxish tone. Timbaland tells everyone he knows about his girlfriend. Scherzinger says he’s handsome and she was attracted to him immediately. Timbaland responds that he didn’t know what he was getting himself into. She cried, argued, and questioned everything after they first had sex. Her hight maintenance attitude was unexpected. She says she’s intent on finding a healthy relationship but believes he’s using her.
“Everybody listen all over the world/I got a story 'bout my favorite girl (Wait a minute)/Oh, my baby sexy for sure/I had to have him when he walked through the door (Wait a minute)/She was 'bout to drive me insane/She come with drama while I'm giving her chains (Wait a minute)/I'm focused but I'm losing control/He only wants me for my body and soul (Wait a minute).”

In the chorus, he’s puzzled as to why she hasn’t called him in three days. She shoots back that he’s overreacting. She says she’s not a sex slave and doesn’t have to be at his beck and call.
“Girl, why you do me like that?/You take all my money/Can't even call a player back (Wait a minute)/Boy, why you tripping like that?/You think 'cause you tricking you get it just like that? (Wait a minute).”

In the second chorus, she says she was with friends, dancing. Out of the corner she saw him and find out what he’s about. She adds he was whipping out his wad of money, spending it on rounds of drinks for everyone who showed up. He flirted with her by using some cheesy lines. Then, they walked downtown and went inside some stores. If she commented on anything, he insisted to get it for her. By the time they got to her place, she had a couple shopping bags. Now, whenever they see each other, he expects oral sex. He’s been harassing her, telling her on the voicemail she’s obligated to repay him back with more sex.
“Minding my business, I was doing my dance/Got my attention, so I gave him a chance (Wait a minute)/Did I mention he was buying a bar?/Gave him my number, he was trying so hard (Wait a minute)/Bought me some things I didn't want, didn't need/Dropped down his jeans like I'm supposed to drop to my knees (Wait a minute)/He been blowing up my phone like he know me/Been leaving messages "You know what you owe me" (Wait a minute).”

The second chorus is sung.
“Girl, why you do me like that?/You take all my money/Can't even call a player back (Wait a minute)/Boy, why you tripping like that?/You think 'cause you tricking you get it just like that? (Wait a minute)/Girl, why you do me like that?/
You take all my money/Can't even call a player back (Wait a minute)/Boy, why you tripping like that?/You think 'cause you tricking you get it just like that? (Wait a minute).”

In the bridge, she inquires as to why he’s acting possessive of her. She tells him to stop making sexual advances towards her each time she sees him. She says it’s not the first time a guy has tried to use her for pleasure. All the talk of building a relationship is lie in order for her to stay. She tells him to forget her number. She won’t be treated like a piece of meat any longer. She says that’s all she had to wanted to know and instructs him to leave her home.
“What is your problem daddy?/Slow your roll/Who you think you jiving?/You're disturbing my flow (Wait a minute)/Why you be bugging?/Like I'm some kind of ho/Got no more questions now I want you to go/So break (Break).”

Timbaland retorts that he didn’t get his side of the story. He tells her she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. He says he enjoys seeing her walk. Her long legs extend, showing off her hourglass figure. It’s something he’s complimented her on many times. But he says he thinks he’s being used, too. She likes his money, not him.
“Hey, let me talk to you for a minute/Shut up, shut up/I love the way you strut/Girl, you already know/But, I'm feeling like you don't want me/You just after my dough.”

She shrugs him off, saying she’s not materialistic. She would like to have a career, not be a gold digger.
“Baby, please, I'm fine/I'm not one of these hos/Chasing dreams not diamond rings/So don't call me no more (Wait a minute).”

The Dolls’ “ah” over a fiery synth and trombone solo.

The second chorus is sung again.

In the spoken section, she says she’s not interested in his cars or money. Although she has to admit the midnight blue Cadillac is sharp. But again, she reiterates she doesn’t want things. He offers to buy her designer outfit. At first, she resists, telling him not to. But then changes her mind and let him get it for her.
“See, I don't want your money/Yeah, I seen you rolling up here/In your Cadillac/But, I don't need all that/It is a nice color though (Wait a minute)/What they call you, Mr. Tin man or something?/See, I don't want your cars/I don't want your jewelry/You can't buy this/So you can keep that/Wait a minute/Uh yeah, you can give me that back.”

It was a brilliant evening they spent together. They separated from their friends and danced. Then, they walked downtown and she was impressed to see that with one phone call, a closed store would open for him. He bought her expensive clothes and jewelry, which she couldn’t afford even with a year’s worth of paychecks. They had sex and then the problems began.

Her campy, snappish vocals are flippant and tongue-in-cheek. She thinks she’s found a guy who’s after one thing and she doesn’t want to be bothered by it. That is, until he tries to win her over with more stuff. Then, she reconsiders and takes what he’s bought. The cycle begins all over again. Normally, I would say all her credibility but it’s so over-the-top, I’m not going to take it seriously. Timbaland plays the straight man. His metallic vocals are befuddled and peevish. He sincerely wants to know what’s going on and caused the change in her.

The blazing synth arrangement pops with an energetic trombone section. Its sparked by Timbaland’s vocals (which are tinny and mesh well) and the Dolls’ riled harmonies.

The impetuous “Wait A Minute” is a ball.

You're saying a lot of things that are interpretation and hinted nowhere in this song. Where did "three days" come from? Why do you think it’s not the first time a guy has tried to use her for pleasure? Why is the Cadillac midnight blue? Why do you assume "that" is a designer outfit? Especially since, in the music video, it's a peice of jewelry he already gave her. And "She come with drama while I'm giving her chains" means she acts dramatic even though he buys her jewelry, not she started acting dramatic after they had sex. The song never confirms whether they had it or not.

This is a good review, and it's fine to interpret a song, but mention that it's interpretation. You can't expect everyone to hear "nice color" and think "midnight blue."
