Yet another convert

Welcome another player burned by the searing disappointment of "playing" MOO3 and looking for something to pin those galactic aspirations to.

Galactic Civ really appeals to me (in theory as i have not played the Beta) in that it focuses on more of the Space Operatic aspects of a 4x game vs. the raw, spreadsheet number crunching crap that doesn't particularly interest me.

Anyway, nothing particularly insightful to state other than that I have gone from a curious visitor to one who has already pre-ordered from Amazon.

Had a similar experience with MOO3. There's a decent game buried somewhere in there and I spent a good deal of time learning the game, but GalCiv just screamed "fun" in the first few minutes. Still has its own learning curve, but it was a much more enjoyable one, that's for sure...

I have been enjoying the beta of GalCiv for several months, and also enjoy MOO3. I hope that you enjoy GalCiv. In terms of learning curves, I think most of GalCiv is pretty intuitive to those familiar with Civ-type games, but there's a great deal of subtlety. The learning curve in GalCiv, IMHO, is in learning the alternative ways to play -- and of deciding what style suits you best.
