So, where do you want me to dump these ashes?

It's kind of a morbid topic. Especially as a phone call.

*ring ring*

me: " Hello?"
HW: "Hi, so I told you that I'm putting Dad down to recieve my remains, right?"
me: "um, no, but okay."
HW: "You know, that way you won't have to deal with it. He would just have to sign for my body."
me: "So , they what? Send... (mind searching for term to use) them to Colorado or here?"
HW: "probably here since that's where my unit is, but they (Dad) would come down....."
me: "Does he know about it?"
HW: "I think I told him, but I'll call him tonight"
me: "So, does he know what do do with them?"
HW: " Yeah, he was a 1SG. He knows what to do."
me: "I mean where you want to be buried...."
HW: "hey, I got to go. Talk to you later."

The life of an Army wife never fails to strike a note of the strange into everyday life.

Definately a strange conversation. It's good to know what to expect though.

Heh, I'd tell him not worry about it. He won't ever know the difference.

But I'm evil like that.

Well he was probably just completing some paperwork. Just another mundane detail, right?

*Sigh*

hee hee. I've decided that when I die, I am going to find someone to spike the punch....get all the people drunk.

Yeah, life in the Army....it forces us to think about things that most people ignore. Of course, this can be a good thing.....just not very cheerful.

you evil woman!

It is hard to talk about the possibilities in reality, but they have to be done at some point. I do not envy you the task of getting a straight up answer from him about where he wants to be buried or if he wants to be cremated, hard stuff to discuss under the circumstances you currently live in, let alone in "normal peace" times.
