Music Review: Cascada "Miracle"

Cascada

Miracle
Album: Everytime We Touch
Year: 2006

Cascada pleads for a second chance with her unfaithful ex-boyfriend in the assailing “Miracle.”

Marveling synths open the single, setting a fervid tone. In the first verse, she says they met and were instantly inseperable. She saw herself marrying him in a few years and dedicated every moment of her life to him. However, she failed to see the signs that he was seeing another girl on the side. After he broke the news to her, she was single again. She feels like her life lacks purpose without him. Despite his cheating, she still wants to be with him.
“Boy meets girl/You were my dream,my world/But I was blind/You cheated on me from behind/So on my own/I feel so all alone/Though I know it's true/I'm still in love with you.”

In the chorus, she needs for him to have an epiphany and realize he should’ve never dumped her. She says she can be all the things he needs and more. Being his girlfriend is all she wants. She believes she will get back together with him after much praying.
“I need a miracle/I wanna be your girl/Give me a chance to see/That you are made for me/I need a miracle/Please let me be your girl/One day you'll see it can happen to me/I need a miracle/I wanna be your girl/Give me a chance to see/That you are made for me/I need a miracle/Please let me be your girl/One day you'll see it can happen to me/It can happen to me.”

Screechy synths have a solo.

In the second verse, she says she’ll be on call for him. Her love has no agenda. She asks him to give their relationship another chance. He won’t even have to question her, he will know by simply looking into her eyes.
“Day and night/I'm always by your side/Cause I know for sure/My love is real, my feelings pure/So take a try/No need to ask me why/Cause I know it's true/I'm still in love with you.”

The chorus is sung again.

The screechy synths have another solo.

Cascada believes no other guy will love her like her ex-boyfriend. She buys into the myth that a guy (even the wrong one) will complete her.

Cascada’s idolaturous, desperate vocals are gullible and mousy. She fears she will be lonely for the rest of life and no one will want her. Her neediness causes her to glom onto him, suffocating even the idea of him.

The attacking arrangement beats down in a relentless force. Although it likely could’ve been meant to have an immediate tone, it’s actually goes overboard and it assaults the ears instead.

The pathetic “Miracle” tries too hard to be a lovelorn, intense single and falls flat on every aspect.
