Welcome Screen problem

help!

Hello,

i'm having some trouble with my welcome screen.
It doesn't appear!!

Now, i have recently installed windows (last night) and that was a loooong and painful process as always.
Before i reinstalled i had my new beautiful welcome screen (thanks to LogonStudio, for the record an EXCELLENT PROGRAM!) appearing everytime i started my comp.
I had only 1 user (admin, i THINK, not really sure) and no password.
So i could just click the user image and windows started loading.

...Now, however.. i can't get it the same way again.
If i use No password and 1 user the welcome screen is skipped and windows loads automaticly.
I don't want that ;((

..if i have 2 users no password, the welcome screen appears, but i don't want 2 icons like that either.

I want 1 user icon, no password so i can simply click the user icon and windows loads.

Does anyone have any idea how this could be done?

Thankful for any suggestions/answers.
Have a great day ahead!

1) Click on Start
2) Click on Control Panel
3) Double-click on User Accounts
4) Click on "Change the way users log on or off"
5) Check "Use the Welcome Screen"
6) Click on Apply Options
7) Close the User Accounts window and the Control Panel
8) The next time you reboot your computer, the cwelcome screen should show up.

Thanks for the fast answer, but.. ;((
I already had that option checked.

Is there an option somewhere that "forces" the use of the welcome screen besides that one?

Not that I am aware of.

do you have 'fast user switching' on?

Hi, no.. fast user swtiching is UNchecked.

I found this piece of info and for the record, before i reinstalled WinXP i used .NET v1.1.

SYMPTOMS
When you install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 on a computer that is running Windows XP, and then you start Windows, the Welcome screen appears. This screen prompts you to click your user name to start Windows.

Notes
• This behavior occurs although you have created only one local user account that does not have a password.
• This behavior does not occur when you install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0.
Back to the top Back to the top
CAUSE
When you install the .NET Framework 1.1, a hidden local user account that is named ASPNET is created. When you start Windows, Windows treats the ASPNET local user account as an additional user account, although the ASPNET user account is hidden. Therefore, the Welcome screen appears and prompts you to click your user name.

Damn!
It looks like what i want is a BUG!
I can't believe it ;((

There must be some way to "reconstruct" this bug, what do you think?

did you reninstall netframework?

ouch...you were way ahead of me on that one Bichur....next time I'll read what he's trying to do....

If he's got 2.0 installed, he can (as you suggested) just re-install 1.1. I have no idea if it will still give him the ASPNET account back with 2.0 installed....never tried it backwards...........

I can't remember if i did it backyards that other time.

when i had 1.0 & 1.1 & 2beta

I think I did.
Once I got the all uninstalled,
I think I installed the 2 but found out paint.net at that time needed 1.1 and you told me I could have both and I was asking about the secret account (aspnet thingy) and you told me I could delete it

IT WORKED!!!

I uninstalled .NET 2.0 then installed .NET 1.1
Now it works exactly as i want it to!!

I'm a little concerned about the ATI video card Control Center, when i tried to install the new drivers+control center it said i needed .NET 2.0 for it to work properly, that's why i downloaded it, i had no idea 2.0 existed before then.

So you think i could install 2.0 separatly from 1.1 so the ATI Control Center works too?
Hmmm.. i'm gonna try that right now.

brb! hehe

It worked, i uninstalled 2.0, installed 1.1 to get the welcome screen working, then installed 2.0 again to have the other applications working and the welcome screen is still intact!!
