Happy Birthday, my son

In the midst of all the remembering and wishing and sadness that 9/11/2001 bought about, I'd like to wish my son (Davey) a happy 12th birthday.

Make the most of this year, kid.  Next year you'll be lumped into the 'teenage' demographic....and whilst that would explain some of your behaviour already, don't wish your life away.

Happy birthday kid.

 We love you, boyo.

Oh, and happy birthday also to Rebecca V, who was actually born on 9/11/2001 and whose father was really disappointed that he couldn't find anyone to share in the joy his daughter's birth gave.....but as I reminded him, as one leaves, so another comes and the circle begins again.

The circle goes on, ad infinitum.

Happy Birthday, Davey.

Ahhh twelve. It was one of the best ages, that I remember. Mostly because of my friends and the new independence that I was allowed. Going to the movies, on our own. Parties in the basements of our suburb neighbourhood that were frequently interrupted by watching parents. Making a decision on the movies, music and books that I liked, and that were not just liked by my parents or on some recommended reading list.

"I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?" - Stephen King "The Body"

Hope you had a good one.
