Music Review: JC Chasez "All Day Long I Dream About Sex"

J.C. Chasez

All Day Long I Dream About Sex
Album: Schizophonic
Year: 2004

JC Chasez has hedonic fantasies in the grasping “All Day Long I Dream About Sex.”

A discreet guitar and chilled synths open the single, setting a beatnik tone. In the first verse, he imagines the girl handcuffing him to the bed and kissing his chest. He sees her going from his stomach to his thighs and back. She’s a stranger he’s seen around the city and he would like to with her, even for one night. He believes she would be the perfect lover.
“So you wanna be a rockstar/Keep it going, don't stop/Work it while you're on top, call the cops/Rollercoaster riding, baby/Up and down/I love to watch you do it/I just want to get close to you/Find out what it takes to move you/Feel the rhythm, hit the spot, getting hot/All night long.”

In the chorus, he says he’s stimulated by the thought of her.
“All day long I dream about sex/And all night long I think about sex/And all the time I think about sex with you, with you/All day long I dream about sex/And all night long I think about sex/And all the time I think about sex with you, with you.”

In the second verse, he says ready to have sex with her whenever she desires. He’ll dote on her by bringing her flowers and buying her dinner. He tells her to be prepared to learn some new positions and tricks from him. He wants to feel the primal, animalistic energy of sex running through his veins. However, he is keen on her pleasures, too.
“Keep in mind, I'm a love machine/Get it twenty four seven, call me any time you need/Some extra attention, did I forget to mention/School's back in session, get ready for a lesson/I just want to feel alive/And do what it takes to satisfy you/Hour after hour baby/All night long with you.”

The chorus is sung twice.

The chilled synths soar during a solo.

The chorus is sung twice.

The synths spiral and split into hard trance beats for a three minute solo. It’s by far, one of the best solos in a modern song.

The chorus is sung once to close the single.

Chasez’s subject matter is provocative but not for what he’s saying, it’s what’s being implied. The song title itself is a masturbation reference. However, the idea that Chasez thinks about sex is hardly shocking. He’s young, human, and in his prime. It’s expected.

Chasez’s violent vocals punch the lyrics in an effort to vent his sexual frustration. He’s starving for a real touch and for a body trembling sensation he will never forget.

The eccentric electro arrangement vibrates and cascades over a sonic soundscape.

The ambitious single was ahead of the curve, given the current 80s electro trend and is a rare find for those who seek it out.
