Would you believe I didn’t realize it’s a holiday weekend? How is that possible you might ask? I’ve been so busy this week, that’s why! One mini crisis after another! Good thing nothing to worry about!
Gosh this is the time of year I miss being in Brooklyn! Whaddup Broooooklyn!!!!! This is the time of year for the West Indian/East Indian Carnival on Eastern Parkway!
On Labor Day every year all the Caribbean-Americans and other well-wishers and party-minded people would congregate on Eastern Parkway, eating, drinking, dancing and carousing and having a grand ole time! We would partake of food from the different regions, drinking beers and other liquor of all kinds, nyam til wi belly full! [that’s eating and drinking until we’re too full to walk! In English!]
My aunt would cook up a lot of Jamaican food. Family and friends would come from all over and we would enjoy watching the floats and the colourful display and also be treated to guest appearances from many musical artists from the Caribbean.
I’ll be getting myself a six pack and finding myself a fellow Jamaican home to hang out, or I’ll just create my own party fun!
I saw Toby’s video and thoroughly enjoyed it! Those people do know how to have a good ole time!
