Extra Mile

Enjoy

You can not do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~

I love this quote. It is one of my favorites!!
Just like any great quote, it just made a wonderful impression on me. I read it every day. I have a copy at home and at work! I need a little extra inspiration sometimes.... Don't we all? :)

This world would be a better place if everyone would go the " extra mile " everyday. So many people give to charities because they feel they have to or they do it because it will benefit them in some way. Like: Tax breaks, free advertising for companies, I could go on.... It's the worst around Christmas time. They give " all they can" during the holiday season, but you see them the rest of the year crossing the street to avoid the very same people they helped serve a Christmas meal too!

:::::Stepping Down from Soap Box ::::::::: (again) :)

Oops, I didn't mean to grab the box.... *grin*

ANYWAY!! I love Ralph's work. He was a thoughtful man. I hope you got something from it like I did.
I volunteered for Special Olympics for a couple of years (until hubby did military) My soul sister's brother is a member of the Special Olympics team in NM. I enjoyed every minute of it! They are a very special group of people. For them, friendship and love are unconditional, that was my reward. I miss them!

I work at a grocery store, and you know how they have those "Take a Penny Leave a Penny" dishes? Well, at the end of every shift, I take all those leftover pennies and put em in the "Support the Blind Kids Who Wanna Go to Camp to Pet Bunnies and Stuff" donation thing. I know it's not much, but I take them from every till, and when I don't work my coworker Rex does the same thing (in fact, I stole the idea from him, props to Rex). If all the pennies add up to, say, 20 cents a night, and we do it 7 nights a week...that's 1.40 a week. Again, it's not much, but it makes me feel good, and it helps the Blind Kid Camp buy bunnies. And that's what really counts, right?

Also, the Blind Kid Camp's donation thing has the kind where you put the penny in and it swirls down. I find that amusing, okay? Back off.

I find it wonderful that you do that and hilarious that you called it what you called it....bunnies.....
I and my husband always play with the "watch the change spiral down to the whole and listen for it to clink" thingy....I find it amusing to!
Every little bit helps....no matter what it is. They appreciate it.
Kudos to Rex and Unfairman!
