How do you use credit?

I'm a credit card user. I like the convenience and I pay off the bill every month. My only problem has been that I occasionally (once every three years or so) forget to pay the bill and get the dreaded late fee.

My first husband had the cards maxed. They don't hesitate to give you an over the limit fee when you're late fee puts you over the limit!!!!

We use a debit card or pay cash. If I buy on the net I will use our one credit card, but then go to the cc site the next day and pay it off.

I hate credit. I hate owing on something that is not an investment like a house. Not even a vehicle is worth it imo.

I use credit cards to create as much revolving debt as I can. I often use one to make payments on another. All grocery purchases are made with my credit cards. I only pay the minimum monthly payment due. When I see something I like, like a pair of shoes, or a yacht, or a one of a kind ruby, I just buy it, no second thoughts.

I use credit the way it was intended to be used. Credit card company employees need their jobs too and I'm more than ready to do my part.

Wow, I hope you're being facetious. If not, I got a bunch of stuff up on eBay for you to bid on.

I am like you in a lot of ways.  My ex maxed out hers as well.  I pay mine off every month, but use them for everything as it is easier to write one check than keep track of a bunch of debits each months.

I am currently digging my way out of credit card hell and I will never go there again. I have cut up all of my credit cards though I must say that it was my husband who ran them up. It makes me sick to see how much money for nothing (interest charges) we pay every month. It will be such a good feeling to be out of debt. I'm getting there, one payment at a time.

good for you Locamama!

It's a hard lesson isn't it? The funny thing is that in the end after all my ex-husband charged there wasn't anything to show for it.

I have a Visa debit card that I use like a credit card.  If a place accepts credit, they will accept the card.  It's just easier than paying with a check and it has the same safeties of a credit card.  It also allows you to shop online without using a credit card.

Cars aren't bad on credit, most of them have a fairly low interest rate (mine are under 5%).  Unless you finance the whole thing, then it's not that bad.  However, most credit cards are over 7% (except for introductory) and will slap late charges, and raise your interest rate if you go over the limit (what's the point of having a limit if they let you charge over it, anyway?)

You want to buy some things on credit, however to raise your credit score.  No credit can be as bad as bad credit when trying to get a loan for a home or similar.

I don't own a credit card these days. Don't want one. I use an old fashioned thing called cash.

If I want to order something online, I go to the bank and purchase a prepaid Visa "gift card". It's a one shot card, once it's spent you throw it out.
